You can save FSP flights

Well sort of. This works if you just want to turn off your computer.

When you want to save, pause your flight, get out of full screen mode, minimize the screen. You'll still have FS running in the background. Then hibernate the PC.

When your PC comes out of hiberation, FS will still be running in the background and you can contiue your flight.

I run FS on my laptop and I need to turn it off to save battery power and this works if I'm mid-flight.

I know this seams a little simple but a lot of people never use the hiberation function.

I have thought about that before, but I never save flights, so I haven't used it.

Good Idea. I never really thought about hibernating, but then again I just tend to step away, use the restroom, cook dinner, watch a movie
(next to my PC) etc and let autopilot do its thing then come back.

I do that too. Especially on long haul flights when I'm over the atlantic or something. Turn the A/P on, LNAV and VNAV, and I'm all set.
Then I just come back a little before descent time, even thought VNAV can be programmed for descent, and then I stay for the langing
(which I do manually)

I do that too. I'm a pilot for British Airways Virtual. I love it, it's very realistic and it has got a great ACARS system.
I fly Boeing 747-400 everyday so my virtual job consist of flying 12 hr a day. Sometimes i depart the morning and arrive at evening so i get to cruise
altitude then have breakfast and watch some sitcoms and comedies at tv. Then go back to cockpit and browse internet etc... I have lunch same way. I
arrive at evening either before or after dinner having done all the stuff i usually do while FMC was flying programmed route and I was monitoring.

Other times it's more tough. I live in Italy but I enjoy living my virtual career in Los Angeles. So that when i start a duty week I depart LAX, the
flight is usually scheduled after 0000z, like 0135 or 0445 depends on which flight. In italy it's either very late or very early as it is 2 am or 5
am. I usually am sleeping at that time but can cope with staying awake all these hours by resting couple, simulating the restroom. Then when I go back
to my PC everything is fine and the plane is perfectly flying. All my worry is if something happens all of a sudden, like a failure, a FS bug, a
electric blackout or a simple system blackout. I am scared of waking up and finding my plane crashed or the pc off. I would like a autosave module
really much as ACARS does have a recover option, it saves automatically the state to recover it if a crash occurs like pc shuts down or FS crahses to
desktop. Obviously nothing for unattended failures but it's great. I had couple of FS crashes and while ACARS recovered perfectly i lost FsPax state,
that was sad, but it's ok as i only use it for ambience and not for managing or keeping my log. I have all that stuff using MS Office.

The idea of the system hibarnation is really great. If you need to turn the pc off and go somewhere all of a sudden... If you need to go to bed but
dont want to loose flight moments and let the chance of a failure occurs while you sleep.... If you need to save and recharge the battery of your
laptop when u are away from direct current... and many other reasons... You simply hibarnate the state of the pc with FS still on, paused.... It takes
a bit of time to restore, depending on how powerful your pc is and how many things u left on. A good advice would be closing al the stuff you can
re-open later without problems and also setting all possible clutter options like display on FS to reduce the workload of the pc when re-opening the
application....

Other than that it is a great idea and I used it couple of times before FsPax. But though it will work fine with FsPax, it's like pausing the
simulator...

I do this all the time (hibernate the PC), and i find out how to do it by accident, i have a Sony Vaio (Lap top), once i was flying and about
one hour after take off, the electric power on my house went off, so the computer begin to use the batery power but about half an hour
later the battery power runs out, and the PC display a window that says "preparing to hibernate" or something like that, so I tougth that
was the end of my flight. But when the electric power came back about 12 hours later, I start my computer What a surprise..... FS was
running (Paused) and my flight in the exact point were it was when the PC shuts down, GREAT!!!
Since then i use this every time I need to "Pause" or "Save" (if that aplies) a flight.
By the way It works fine even if you have more than one program running (I always have FS and Flight Sim Comander open)

i never understood why the hibernate function was there, so basically its like shutting down ur pc but being able to brign it back up with
programs running?

Will, you were actually talking that this is a bad idea, that it "kills your performance", e.t.c.
Now you are saying that you are doing it all the time...

That was back when I had 512 mb of ram, now I have 768. It did hurt me a ton, but every little bit of ram helps
