Belly Landing Technique

I've seen a few pics on here of aircraft sitting at the end of the runway after a successful belly landing and I was wondering how on Earth you do it?
I've tried numerous times. I keep my speed around vref+10, touchdown almost perfectly level, and with a descent rate of less than 100 fpm. The plane
will skid down the runway, but once my speed drops below about 100 knots, I will start sinking into the ground until it registers as a crash. I've
tried turning crashes off, but I end up bouncing up and down uncontrollably. I've tried this in a few different planes including the PMDG 737, the
default FS 737, IFDG A320, and the POSKY CRJ.

Is there something I could change in the aircraft.cfg file to maybe make the contact points "stronger"?

Won't matter as you're not on the gear anyway...FSP takes over to prevent the aircraft from crashing as would normally occur in FS9.

As usual, Brad is right, practice, practice, practice. When you can touch it down at about 0 degree AOA and at about 10 fpm, you're prolly
in the ballpark.

Oddly enough I did just fine the first time with a belly landing. I hit it at about -32fpm and it skidded to a halt. I guess it all goes with luck
and just plain landing practice. When you can hit the -50FPM landings WITH gear, you'll do just fine without them.

I've noticed in extreme emergencies landings become much more detailed and fantastic. I had a no-gear landing in a 757 once and my
touchdown speed was something like -20 ft/sec. On a normal day it wouldn't be anywhere near that good. I'm usually in the mid 100s.

In my emergency landings the touchdowns are generally awful (400fpm) apart from a gear problem in the 757 when my touchdown rate was -5.39fpm. Amazing.

Are you flying the Posky 757-200? That's one of the most graceful birds I've ever flown in FS2004.... next to the Concorde.

practice a few... load up a few pax, go destroy your gear (overspeed and extend em' ). after you land / crash, just remember to cancel and
don't save it..

Someone else mentioned 0 degree pitch, I agree... come in as hot as you need to to get 0 degree pitch.

I found the belly landing very easy... The asymmetrical gear failure is much more exciting, touch & goes to bounce em loose.

I fly a POSKY 757 with winglets. The landing with 5.39fpm wasn't a belly landing it was when the gear didn't retract after takeoff but I thought it
meant it was stuck half way but it wasn't.

Just make sure you're actually running fsp when you're trying to do a belly landing. Otherwise it won't work (unless your plane actually has built in
support for belly landings like the Shockwave planes do).

i find the key to the perfect belly landing is to keep balanced, the worse thing u can do is panic at the last secound and pull up

If you're panicking during any landings, you need more PRACTICE! lol!

I'm just kidding. There's been a few windy approaches, or CAT II/III approaches that have really shook me up! Scary stuff landings are!

I got a way to make every FS aircraft able to land on belly and also perform (only if u wat it) water alndings

The key is "contact points"!
Go into your aircraft floder and open up the aircraft.cfg file... Scroll down to the contact points section and add some extra scrape points
(the one class 2, class 1 is for gear and 4 is for float)

If you actually are good at putting some contact points as me you can actually put as many points as you like. These is needed to enable
your plane to touch with a part of the fuselage, wing, tail... Just put as many as you can for all kinds.
Once you put enough scrape points try doing your belly landing with that aircraft, if you did your work well you'll be amazed how it works
perfectly. The plane touches the rwy (if u amanaged to align over one lol) and slide off to a stop like a real one would do.

I tryed few times my testing and it's amazing. And you can have crash detect on, it does it perfectly also with FsP.

For water landings (only intended if u wish to make en emergency land on water) it's the same but actually not as realistic.
U touch the water surface and slide off realistically and stop very very quickly. Then once stopped it comes the unrealistic part, it floats
undefenitevely (have i wrote it ok?). U can actualy evacuate pax, then i suggest exit flight if u hate to see your plane floating like a boat.

I know it culd sound odd but it greatly enhanced my FS experience. All came t mind when i had a gear failure before landing on night at
Dubai on a PMDG 747-400 British Airways Virtual flight from London. Gear was stuck and i had to perform belly landing. It was awful, the
plane was jumping all over (i had crash detent off). It was simply frustrating once stopped to have the plane still jumping.. i had to push
slew although it doesnt work when flying with FsP it resets gear position if on the ground.
So i realised it was becoz of contact points

All of this i hope might help some of you as i think it's really something amazing and rewarding that adds realism and functionality not
only to FS but to FsP as well.

Believe me. There are lots of thing you can do to enhance the experience just by editing some parameters in .cfg files and other stuff like
that instead of spending lots of money and then have to edit them anyway. Obviously it requires a basic knowledge of how it works but its
easy, no advanced skills or i couldnt have done it :-P

I only had one belly landing and fortunately, I landed safely. I have tried to make belly landing way before I even got FSP, but it will just
register as a crash.

Get in the frame of mind where you still think you have functioning gear. Have a nice smooth approach and when you're about 3 feet off the ground,
flare like 1 degree and prey.....
