FS Commander is non-flightsim modularized, so you can do everything you need to "offline", FS not loaded. FSNav requires an active FS9 app running and
is only actuated from the FS9 interface via a module .dll. Commander also has a Black Box, which acts as a FMC/GPS and is also available to integrate
with FS9 when it is active.
I use FSNav almost exclusively, because that's just what was available way-back-when. But for integration with other third-party apps I think I might
opt for FSBuild2.0 or FS Commander (depending on whether or not flight tracking was an issue). Don't know about the API's availability, but I would
think that there wouldn't be too much of a problem getting to that point.
