Be Careful of Freeware Addon-on Scenery

I downloaded photorealistic scenery for Tucson, Arizona the other day from FlightSim.com. It had a self installer, which was nice.
However, once I installed the scenery to see the effects, I noticed that the add-on overwrote the FScene textures I had added a few days
before. This installer took out all of the textures for N. and S. America! At any rate, I uninstalled this photo real scenery and had to reinstall
the continents package to replace the ground textures. I learned from this experience to not trust all of the freeware add-ons you can get
from FlightSim or any other site. Just be careful!

make sure it says Compatible with (what ever enviorment enhancer you are using) so if it does download it, if it says it is not compatible
don't download it. Hope that helps.

Auto-installers can definitely mess things up. I deleted an auto-installed aircraft once, and the uninstall procedure deleted a lot of the default
gauges. The lesson is to always back things up before using an auto installer.

yep, I always have a backup of files before installing anything...especially scenery. At least all of the new textures are where they need to
be now and my sim is "pretty" again

The method I use for auto-installers is to change the path to something like "C:\TEMP" so that I can look at the contents first before potentially
overwriting important files.

Personally, I never use auto-installers for just this reason. It doesn't take much time to learn what goes where so, I think it's better to get
the raw zip file and then send everything where it needs to go manually. That way you can see what needs to be backed up and reversing
it is quick.

Auto-installer = Don't know what you're getting until it's too late.

I try to keep anything I download and add in a seperate folder. That way, if there is a problem, removing it isn't.

I usually install things in a seperate directory and then manually move into my MSFS.
