Problems with FS2004, Help!!!

Hey guys!!
I have been a user of FS2004 for a longgg time.
I own the PMDG, LevelD and a lot of exciting sceneries from Simflyers.net, Flytampa, etc.
There are two issues that are bothering me that I can't find a solution at all so I can fix the problems.
When I installed FS2004, I chose to install everything, not for it to run from the CD.
Now I have two problems that are becoming a terrible annoyance due to the fact that I can't fix them at all.

Problem 1
Aircraft Mixture #1 on a multiengine aircraft doesn't work.
No matter how much I try to pull it down with the mouse or even joystick it doesn't work. I have tried finding answers everywhere and I
can't seem to find it.
Any of you guys have seen this issue? If so what is the best solution to fixing this? I really don't want to reinstall everything since my
FS2004 is full with sceneries, aircraft, programs that will take a long time to reinstall since my library is so big.
Is there a way to overwrite the files for that so it can work?

Problem 2
Also another issue.
Everytime I fly into a new scenery or airport I installed, FS9 pauses for like 30 seconds (I guesss it's loading scenery or something) but it
just takes toooo long. I have a P4, 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 128MB NVidia Geforce3 video card and it still takes forever to load. It's annoying
cause sometimes I am in the middle of an approach and the sim just stops for like 40 seconds without movement.
Any suggestions on what I can do to solve this type of issues?

GeForce three??? Your gonna need a better card, at least a 5, A 6600 would help out alot more, second, you might want to up the CPU, its a little on
the slow side.

I had a Geforce3 in my last PC with an even slower processor and less memory but I never had frame stops longer than 1 second during
scenery reload, and only with complex add-on scenery. So I think it's another problem. Maybe your harddisk. Make sure it's not fragmented and
there's enough free space for the swap file.
That's only one thing I can think of, maybe there are several problems working together. You could also try to lower your FS settings, like
texture detail, display distance and so on and see if that changes anything.
BTW: Does it happen with ANY add-on scenery or is it a specific one?

It happens on some add-on sceneries, not all. I will try lowering my display settings to see if that helps a bit.
I am also trying to fix the issue I have with the mixture settings since that is very annoying jajaja.
I prefer not to reinstall since I have so much stuff it will take me an Era to put it all back together.

Hi there.

Concerning your question #2: I run fs9 on a Win98SE machine AMD Athlon 2800+ @ 2079MHz, Ati Radeon 9800 Pro, 2x 512MB Infineon
DDR-RAM and it is running perfectly. No need to change your hardware (IMHO).

I think you have to check the rest of your system like virtual memory, and if your CD-ROM is on DMA mode etc. You also state that you
have a "big" library. Check if you REALLY need everything.

Most of my library is needed since it's aircraft and scenery I always use, plus Squawkbox, FSUIPC and others.

Do you have two harddisks? Better to install FS9 and all its addons on a seperate harddisk away from the OS and pagefile...
Thats was for issue No2, the first one i don't know...
