HELP! Lost my file, had to reinstall, can I build back?

Recently I put my hard drive thorugh a disk defrag and when I went into FS2004 to fly in FSPassengers like I normally do an error
message came up that read something like "Database files or header not found". I checked in the most recent log report and it was fairly
short. I decided to reinstall FSPassengers over the existing and no better result. I then uninstalled FSP and then installed again and the
program was working fine but I've lost my player file that had accumulated about 34 hours of flight time in career mode (I was excited to
finally get to C4 status). I had a small fleet of single and multi engine props but now I'm faced with building back the company. I really like
to go with career mode but I'd hate to think about having to fly all 34+ hours again.

Is there a way to open up the player data files so that I can set the flight hour clock to 34 hours? This would allow be to pretty much
continue where I left off although I know my world miles travelled would bt gone.

No. No way to change your flight hours and rank manually. That would allow some people to cheat.
So you'll have to make it all the way from c0.
One suggestion - do not forget to make a backups from time to time.

cheat. Perhaps in a future update Dan can add the ability to set your scenario with already C4 status.

Another thing, I noticed when I start up FS2004 the splash page is not in the center of the screen anymore, it's in the upper left. Had
anyone else had this happen to them?

Yes there is. Actually, there are 2 of them - one is authentic program that Dan uses and second one is developed by me.
But Dan do not want to allow FsP users to set their rank freely, so neither his nor mine editor can be distributed freely.

As for cheaters that would be their own problem, plus there's no real reward in it to cheat.

There is a huge reward, because a potental cheater can use it to fake his flying experience e.t.c. It may be significand for those who use
FsP as a reporting software for virtual airlines, for example.

Perhaps in a future update Dan can add the ability to set your scenario with already C4 status.

This issue was discussed widely on this forum. Believe me, you are not the only one who want this feature, but obviously, Dan already
had decided that this does not fit the program ideology well.
So, I wouldn't be expecting this in the next version of FsP.
And it will not be editable in the database editor that I'm woking on currently.

As for now, I'm planing:
- company and pilot comments, date of creation, company founder, company ID;
- company name change in realistic way, so that you may lose some reputation, or have to pay for advertising
- pilot name;
- turning off instant record if you are not in a scenario mode;
- thrashing aircraft for a small fee;
- selling aircraft from one company to another;
- company merger, including aircrafts and pilots, rep may wary and improved with advert.
- pure advertisement - pay money, and increase your company reputation
- insurance investigation bribe - pay the man, and decrease your insurance rate, but if they catch you, you'll be punished!
- bank loans (not sure yet)
- keeping fleet of unlimited size (more than 40 aircraft that is)

Probaby, you would be also able to browse and analise your database (maybe some charts)...

I would also like to implement any ideas that people would have. As long as Dan would allow me to do it (no cheating ).
So I will probably run a suggestions thread here, but only after the first version release, as you understand.

I would have asked for that as well. It would be a great feature. You can so something similar now but it's cheating, by lowering the weight of a
plane untill you can afford it and then (once bought), putting it back to normal.

I think bank loans would be a terrific idea.

I like it very much, it almost seems like an expansion more than an editor.
Finally i can change my first name from Rúni to Runi, i'm getting tired of seeing R%ni wherever i upload my flights.

Yep that would be cheating, so this should not be implemented.

I don't think that Covoxer was ever going to implement that feature, it can already be done by altering the Aircraft.cfg file. What i was saying is
that if a loan feature was implemented, it would add to the gameplay.
I'm really looking forward to this editor too, you are perfectly correct, it sounds like an addon.

Yes, I know that loans are wanted a lot. But since I'm expected to make them realistic, I have to make it inpossible to avoid paybacks. And
this is not that easy for a standalone database editor. That's why I'm not sure about it yet... But I hope I'll find the way to make it right.

Ah, yes, that's in a case when you can not sell the plane from within FsP. It may happen when you mess with aircraft.cfg a bit.

Yes. It is standalone windows application. It runs without FS or FsP. You may even use it in a background, or however.
It's only working with FsP database files and does not need anything else.
Flight logs and map are not implemented yet. I'm not sure if I shall implement a map view.
