Dan,
Updated tonight to the latest 0902 version and tested it out a bit. Had only one problem with the new features, and that's with the "no flaps should
not cause penalty) part of it.
Flight was KCLT to KGSO in a Ford Trimotor, log below:

Considering that the flight was perfect the ticket price normal, the service price normal and the service quality nice, passengers on this flight
think that your company's reputation should be 100%
Your company reputation is now: 65% (+3.40 increase)
Overall Flight Result: Bad
Pilot Bonus points: 158 points (-30% because you used time acceleration)
You made a very nice landing. (+50)
Perfect Flight, no problems and very satisfied passengers. (+150)
Bad weather conditions during take-off, but a safe landing and satisfied passengers. (+26)
Pilot's Penalty points: -700 points
Forgetting to set the proper flaps during take-off is an extremely dangerous fault and does not show proper piloting skills. (-300)

I tried a different plane (Bill Lyon's Travel Air 2000) with much the same result (although I flew that in a war zone and did not keep the results
when I was shot down
). I thought the travel air might have had "flaps" somewhere that did something else graphically (Bills planes usually do
that
with the spoiler key and such) so I decided I'd try the default Tri-Motor.
I suppose I could flap my arms, but I doubt that would help
