does detect crashes need to be turned off in fsx settings to preform a belly land after a gear failure with fspassenger without the flight
resetting at the end when you do belly land

Hello.

No you don't have to. I had some belly land where my plane landed without landing gear out and my FS did never do as if it was a crash
whereas detect crash is turn on into my FS config.

As long as there is a positive pitch of the aircraft just before the belly of the aircraft touches down (without stalling of course), you shouldn't
have any problems.
