Movie trigger

Did a quick search but still confused ..
The largest jet I can afford (for now) is an 80 seater where the stewardes (automatic) happily serves
food ,drink,and alcohol but refuses steadfast to play any movies.

I have flown at all levels to 40FL but still no luck.
Do I need a larger plane ? .. what is the trigger , I really want maximum happines on those
long flights.

I know on FSP 2004 the movie is always 1.5 hours. On FSPAX there are short ones that are only 25 or 30 minutes, Coral Sea Life and Battle of Midway.
Of course you have to take into account climbing and descending in your movie time also. I only start mine fairly close to cruising altitude or
usually just after reaching it and prefer to never have the movie on while descending so I don't risk the passengers not seeing the whole thing.

Could be the age of the airplane. I can serve food on a DC-3, but not show movies.

This should not affect your final "happiness" score much, though. Just don't let them go hungry, land where you are supposed to in the time you are supposed to get there, and make a smooth landing. The smooth landing is the most important part.

Joeflyer .... at altitude with low speed 3-4 hr flights are common

Spokane .. just wonering how does FSpassanger know how long the flight will be ???
On my ususal routes I always enter the estimated time of arrival but not on all flights.

iflyfsx ... ( I dont ... still FS9) I ususally get max points and very happy passangers but would like to know just how the movie is triggered.
The service is automatic .. for one flight I did switch to manual service and tried ctr>shift>O but nothing happened ???? appart
from getting the pax well drunk.

Sigh ... just finished a 3 hr42 min flight to Comox Canada..but no movie...

You tell it when to show the movie (this is the way I do it anyway). So in FS2004 if your flight isn't going to last probably at least around 1 HR 45
MIN to 2 Hours the you shouldn't show one. In FSX you have more flexibility because you have several movie lengths to choose from. The passengers will
be mad if you start a movie and land before it ends, the movie stops sometime as your descending I believe if its not already over. I don't think FSP2004 can detect how long a flight will be, and show a movie no matter what, thus leaving your passengers angry over not seeing the whole thing if it wasn't that long of a flight. I think FSPAX can choose based on your destination.



So you should be ok showing a movie in 2004 on that flight you mentioned, but I guess it could be the age of the plane as someone said since you tried
it with both manual and automatic service.

I guess the passengers will have to use their imaginations.

It's all about the plane your using. Movies on 747, no movies on Cessna.

Thanks people .. problem solved.

I guess there is no such thing as an actual "Movie Trigger".
Had another look at the setup menu .. option for automatic service ... hostess serves food and drink
Option under manual service ... set serving food, drink AND movie.

So i reset to default (fiddled with previously) , enabled manual service and Voila ... the movie now plays under Ctr.Shft..O.

I assumed that under auto service when I entered estimated time of arrival .. say 3hrs 10min the hostess would be smart enough to know
that there is enough time .... I guess it isn't programmed that way,...

So now the passangers were extrtemely satisfied, they enjoyed the movie, It was a great movie .. although I have no idea what they
actually enjoyed since appart from a generic announcement there was no mention of title etc..a FS9 limitation ????
