Ability to save/load flights?

Just done a quick search through the boards and can't see this has been covered.

I'm assuming if you start a flight under FSP you must complete it - can't save and resume? The manual doesn't mention this issue either.
Not a problem if this is the case, just would like to know in order to plan my flights (however itwould be a useful feature).

No, you cannot save flights and return later to complete them. Think of it this way: you must first start your Fs2004 flight and then load FsP as a
session within that flight...

Maybe a future feature but for now it is not an ability of FsP.

I don't think saving/loading is in line with the realism FSP tries to create. Why start something you can't finish? I don't mean to be
offensive, I'm just not big on the time acceleration/pausing/resuming/suspending deal. That's all

Horses for courses, but time acceleration and/or saving a flight to do in two or three stages is the only way those of us with limited time
can emulate the "redeye" from LAX to LHR (or the famous Golden Argosy). I agree that loading a save game could be seen as a means
of cheating so if this feature was introduced for future versions it would have to be done carefully (perhaps an option for max number of
saves and reloads relative to flight duration) and with a suitable points penalty for the pilot.

Some people like to cheat on games, some don't. It's all a matter of preference. Dan focused his design on realism, so I think you'd be
hard pressed to get him to bring back the save/load system.

I'd like to put in my vote to include the ability to save a flight en route to a location and resume it later. Take for example I want to fly from
Seattle to Hong Kong. I hate to use the time accelleration for it kills the sense of realism and yet I can't imagine sitting it in for 12+ hours! I
like to use FS9 to 'explore' the world. Much to the effect like that tourism show with Michael Palin (python member) that went around the
world. Well I'm quite the adventurer type too. This also reminds me of watching Indiana Jones movies and while he's flying around the
world you subtly see a red line charting it's way across the map. I find that fun to do in FS9.
What I like to do to progressively find a new location to fly to is to roll a pair of dice along with a set of instructions that I've created my
self and then I find myself flying to some odd location around the world. I don't mind prescribing myself random destinations as this
makes the world more interesting to fly in.
I also long to fly those long flights that use up 93% load of fuel. Guess I'm tired of full tanks at take-off and >90% fuel at destination.

The endurance and distance really appeals to me but then again I'm a nut!

FS Passengers is an excellent program! Horah to Dan and all those involved!

I wouldn't mind seeing a save feature. Here's why. Sometimes I don't have the time to sit in front of my computer for 10 hours strait. I don't
really want to use the accelerate time feature, as I don't really find it realistic. So if I had a save feature, I could wake up one morning, start a
flight from LA to Tokyo, then a few hours into the flight, I've got to go to work so I save the game's proggress. 8 hours later when I come back
home, I can load the saved game and pick up where i left off and continue.

Without a save feature, I'd have to literally set aside 10 hours of my life to dedicate to the flight, and that's not really something i want to do.
My only other option at this point is to pause FS when I have to do something else and unpause it when I get back. This works fine, but it
de-facilitates my computer somewhat, and FS is prone to crash if it sits open too long.

Sorry to hear that mate. I happen to have a wonderful wife that understands my love of planes, art, and skill of building/fixing things. I've
even shown her the features of FSP and she really thought that the serving of foods and movies was a cool thing. I tend to really dig on
the ultra realism of following protocol (trying best to avoid penalties).
Man, just for fun I started a flight from the KCCR ? san fran war zone area with two passengers in a Cessna Skylane. The plane is slow
like a sitting duck and before I knew it I could hear bullets hit the plane (apart from the rampart booms of artilery shells). The first thing to
go was the electical system, then all hydraulics went, and finally the engine was out, all this dictated to me from the co-pilot. I managed to
dead stick a landing in a residential area and almost hit 3 trees and 2 buildings.
When I was done I got like 3600 pilot points for bringing the bird down safely but that plane was a complete loss... it would have cost
more to repair than to sell and buy a new one! Man that's awesome! I am thinking of some humanitarian flights as it's exciting but for
now I'd like to put myself thorugh those long intercontinental flights. There's just something about loosing two enigns on a 747 in the
middle of the ocean.
