Movies?!?!

Hey all, i am new to the forums, but have been using FSP for quite a few weeks. and i was just wondering how long movies take on FSP?
as i am yet to do one in a flight. All help welcome!

1 hour 30 minutes to be precise, though i don't see the point if it, seeing as in the planes that really need the movies (777, 747 to a
lesser extent 767) there are IFE screens...

(Pilots, pax, all welcome to correct me )

I'd also say that i wouldn't activate it on flights of 3hrs or less... it doesn't seem right for that..

Maybe, on certain planes, we could have an option to turn on "IFE" screens, so pax could play games or watch a movie when they like

So, with the question answered,

Jambone, that's exactly what i've been thinking too, although i looked up a few things and there are still long-range planes that' don't have
IFE (United's 747's apparently) but little drop down screens so the pilot can display a movie.But how'd the IFE bonus work?

- Were happy that the IFE system was available (+75) ?
- Were bored throughout the flight? (-20) ?

In the special info column you could then put (just for fun)

This, and the penalty could be remedied by handing out newspapers, or magazines, or maybe even giving him a colouring book?

I'm not a developer/programmer, but if this isn't too hard to do, i'd like to see a system like that instead of the movie feature... or alongside
it.

Well, you could have, in the options menu an IFE configuration, with a list of planes, and you could set individual info, say:

(Configuration 1)Screens:
Option 1: Drop down
Option 2: Seat back

so, on 737's they have screens lowered from the ceiling, like 1 per 10 people, but on most 777's they have one per seat back.

(Configuration 2)Channels:
Option 1: Long Haul
Option 2: Short Haul

so, short haul is on smaller planes, and it shows a movie once (depending on flight length), during the flight. Long Haul is for big planes, it shows
the movie more times (again, configured to flight length) and also allows the option for playable games (not available on short haul flights, or on
aircraft using the "drop down" screen method).

(Configuration 3)Games (can be available or unavailable (blanked out) see above ^^):
Option 1: ON
Option 2: OFF

(Configuration 4) IFE settings:
Option 1: Pilot controls use of IFE
Option 2: Cabin crew control use of IFE

You could also make it available to send flight data, and tv show episodes to the IFE screens (map with plane position, speed, ETA , and
do on) as another mapped option. (not that you'll see them, but you could raise the bonus) ex.

- Were happy with the IFE's variety of movies (+75) (default setting when turned on)
- Were happy with the IFE's variety and helpfulness (+90) (movies & flight data)
- Were amazed with the IFE's options, especially in economy class (+115) (Movies, FD, games, (ALL things))
- Were annoyed at the lack of IFE (-50) (could be turned off perhaps?)

Of course, you'd have to limit the amount of options to the length of the flight or ppl will be raking in points, say 1 "new option" per hr flying
time, starting at 4hrs?

So 4hrs or less : Jambones Short-haul idea, so drop-down screens, with the default 1 movie option, maybe some 757, 767 flights.
5hrs: Movies & Games
6hrs: Movies, TV episodes, games
7hrs: Movies, Tv episodes, games, fd
8hrs: Movies, TV episodes, games, fd, god knows what, perhaps a game called FS 2004?
and so on....

This'd also be limited to be available from a certain alt, say 10000agl; seeing you may then use electronical devices?

Thats not logical, first never assume something is easy to do, adding code is not like painting.

IFE unlike movies can be used at anytime by users and you can't penalise the pilot for bad planing of duration: user choose themself
what they want to watch, so points for IFE would be earned automatically in all flight. Plane with IFE would get considerable automatic
points boost while other would remain with normal point without any connexion with pilot. This would add nothing to the game.
