My first mayday call

What is up with these ATC, when you make a mayday call?

I have my failures at 5%, easy to medium.

I was flying in my Mooney Bravo,
I was on about a hour long flight. I was at about 4500 ft cruising. Then all the sudden my co-pilots notifies me, we have a engine fire. I
check my gauges, my speed goes down to about 60 knots. I check my GPS for the nearest airport to land. I call in a mayday. I start to lose
altitude. Then the only thing the ATC is worried about is, that i'm 300 ft. below my assign altitude.

I think after you make a mayday call, the ATC should tell you something like, mooney bravo 362 you are southeast of so and so. We are
dispatching the emergency equipment out to you. I would feel alot better if the ATC cared about me and my paxs first. Then that i was
lower then my assign altitude.

Well, in the end. It didn't turn out to good. My pilot, and pax did not survive the head on collision with the tree. I was not able to make the
nearest airfield, or even find a clearing to land safely. After impact with the tree, my mooney brave became a fire ball after it exploded.

Just ignore ATC when you fly flight simulator.

Also if you run into this situation again, remember the ABCs of engine failure:
A: Attitude (Get your aircraft's attitude level and establish best glide speed.)
B: Best field (Select the BEST, not the PERFECT field, and start gliding towards it.)
C: Checklists (Go through your engine restart checklists.)

Thats a FS problem that FSP can't really change, unfortunatly
If you have some spare cash you could try Radar Contact 4. My copy is in the post and I can't wait to try an emergency with it

Actually it will say in the manual not to restart after a fire, which is part of the checklist. So yes, checklists after a fire.

There are other checklists to look at as well, specifically the emergency landing checklist.

FS9 ATC is rubbish -.- Cessna N1265K exit runway when able... WHAT ELSE SHOULD I DO??? do they think I want to sleep there? I'm sorry I forgot my

I ignore it as well and only use it if I want to land on busy airports. But I ignore "go arround"

I hate going around, especially when I'm down to within a few minutes of making the flight on-time or being late.

I read on a Yahoo flight sim group, that when you need to make an emergencly landing, go into FS menus and drag the traffic slider to
zero, to simulate ATC clearing all traffic away for you to land.

Sometimes it is better in the SIM as in real life, to land on a grassy field with the gear up, than with it down.

you can get radar contact 4 or cancel IFR or flight following and just land at the most suitable strip.
