selecting a starting rank

hi again i was just wondering if it is possible to select a starting rank when using airline mode. when i say select i ment that i dont want
to start with a cessna or some other GA because i dont want to spend hundreds of hours flying no where. Instead, i would like to start
with a fokker 50 or an atr 42 because thats more realistic when it comes to an entry level job at a major airline. so basically, im saying
that i would like to pick a starting rank and be able to work up from their.

if this is not in the up and coming release i think that it might be a good add for the first update.(hint hint)

Im also inerested in knowing more about the rank's. I havn't really been able to find much information explaining about them.

Could someone - a beta tester maybe (so not to hold up Dan and the release) breifly explain the rankings with c0 -c20 or whatever it is
and the kind of aircraft your are able to fly.

create a company without "career mode" flag and you'll be able to fly a 747 at your first flight
else you should make your way across different type (GA->turbo->jet)

Thanks Dan, I have seen that screen but the part of FSP that I wanted to know more about is the ranks that you can achieve. Like the part
where the button is that says "Click here to read about rank and aircraft type in career mode"

likewise, I'd like to see the ranks, and what you can fly at each rank.

I fully intend on using the 'career mode' option and starting from the bottom, although I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try the 'instant
record of flights' option.

am I right in thinking that if I have two pilots, starting from the bottom, and I fly many hours with one of them, so they advance far enough to
fly a jet, and then he crashes and dies, will I have to go right back to flying C172's with the other pilot???

Here's a passage from the documentation:

With Career Mode yours pilots are limited to an aircraft type based on the hours of flight they have and their bonus or penalty
points. You start with low rank pilot that are only able to fly General Aviation aircraft, and you must fly until you earn promotion to a higher
rank and be eligible to fly a commercial Jet. Take care as the pilot points are also based on your piloting skills: make poor flights and you
might eventually get downgraded to lower rank if your mistakes are grievous.

You able to get hours AND points to be able the get an higher rank.

Points: after each flight, you get (or you lose!) points. If you made a good landing, managed to land a damaged plane, landed in time,
you'll get points. You lost points if you did'nt set flaps properly or if you damaged your landing gear (examples...)
Hours: You have to fly X hours to qualifie for a higher rank.

Mach_one: I don't now if I can expose here the listed rank... I'll let Dan decide on this. But since release if really near, I'm sure you will get
this list by yourself SOON!

And Clut, you're right: if your higher ranked pilot die, you won't be able to fly those planes, only the C172 (or any one propeler plane. I
prefer the Mooney Bravo: faster, easier to handle).

I might try moving to the Mooney Bravo then. I usually fly GA with the 172 simply because my real-life training was in a 152, and the 172
was the closest thing to it.

I think I'll make the Mooney my priority on re-painting the fleet with my new livery so I can get using that. I'll probably have one of each
when FsP is released.

As Pagir pointed out, there are two main factors that affect your career progression: Flight Time and Points. The good news it that you don't need 200
hours of flight time to fly commercially. After about 25 hours, you should be able to make it to a light turbo prop (and that's using time acceleration).

Also, there is nothing preventing you from making a backup of your database once in a while. That way you don't need to start over on a C-172 after
crashing a 747!

...or you can decide to not enable the "instant record flight" option and be able to "cancel" a bad flight!
