Boats in FSP

OK, I downloaded a freeware "yacht" off of Simviation and soon had fired it up and was motoring around enjoying the scenery. Then of course came the
inevitable "hmmm, I wonder . . .".

So, has anyone actually bought a boat in FSP and tried using it? Does not being able to get airborne mean it couldn't be used in FSP?

If you have a boat with parking brake it could work

Actually, this one does have a parking brake. My company/airline is too poor to be able to afford a yacht right now, but someday maybe. I might try it
out with a test company. Just a little something to add to the fun.

hmmm, well you wouldnt be about to remove there seatbelts i doubt??
you couldnt serve food or drink, as you wont be above 6000ft at any point (well i hope lol)

Yeah, I'm thinking it wouldn't work because you'd be stuck in perpetual "taxi" mode. You might not be able to get credit for arriving at a
"destination" if you never make it out of taxi mode. Still, I might give it a try sometime.

Only thing I would recommend is adjusting the fuel flow scalar a smidgeon as the yacht guzzles the go go juice.

Create a test company with lots of money, buy it and try it. I have found issues with some aircraft that will not work with FsP like ultralights
(Bill Lyons) so not sure about boats

Well, I'm curious as to the result now. I might try the test company thing, and let you know. Since boats are rather heavy, this would be the sort of
thing only a wealthier company could do. Probably couldn't turn much, if any, profit though. So we'll see if the idea crashes and burns (or sinks), or
might actually be a possibility. The hovercraft and hydrofoil on Simviation are also possibilities.

OK, so now I'll have to see if it qualifes as a Multi-Engine Piston (which it should, if the engines are classed as "piston"), and do up a payload
model (no big deal). Is there an option to disable the taxi speed limit penalty?

As far as I remember, someone (Ryanamur?) tried to use a Corvette with FsP during beta testing. The problem is: the thing doesn't get
airbone, so the FsP flight (althought being started with the release of the brakes) can't get any stats...

I just tried it with an aircraft carrier. Don't bother, it just thinks you're in taxi mode and it's reallly boring plus the boat takes alot of tinkering
in the aircraft.cfg to make it work at all with FSP

I regularly use flying boats. I just thought having a true "boat" would be a fun little diversion, maybe something to add to my little Carribean based
tour type company (formerly a bush-oriented company based near the Alaskan-Canadian border).
