pagir..... you are correct. The Zep used a fuel called "Blahgas" however, I'm not exactly sure of the spelling. That is what made the Zep
such a wonderous method of travel and why it set so many records on it's world flight back in 1929. With the weight of the fuel pretty
much less than that of air..... it could adjust the airship weight accordingly and fly great distances.
Keep in mind this was only a couple of years after Lindberg crossed the pond that the Zep was making it's record breaking flight from
Tokyo to San Francisco. (non-stop) Pretty amazing stuff back then. I believe the longest was about 6300 miles??? from Germany to
Tokyo across Sybrian wasteland.
Bottom line...... okay.... maybe I'm not burning any fuel....... but flying those distances at 70 kts. top speed...... well..... I deserve some type
of break. (smile)
