seatbelt question

I keep getting a notice that the passengers did not understand why I made them wear seatbelts after reaching cruise altitude. I turned the
belt sign off just after reach CRZ ALT. However I turn the belt sign back on 2 min before descent and some of my descents are slow like
at 700ft / min and can take awhile. I was wonder if I am getting this because I am turning it on, on a long slow descent. That maybe I
should wait till I put on approach flaps, where I will be only 11 miles away?

usually i switch off the sb sign after 10.000 and on again atfer i started descent. Only during turbulence i switch on again. I think you got the
penalty because you switch on after reaching crz alt and later on switch on again before descent.
So the fact that during a short time of crz alt you have the sign on is what they don't understand

In real life the air lines are very liberal with the use of the seatbelt sign. They turn it on the very second there's a hint of turbulence of
something else stupid. In most planes I fly in, they spend more time with the belt sign on than they do with it off. I wish this would be a
little more generous about the belt usage with these passengers.

Well, the seatbelt sign is there for safety. If there's is light turbulence, there's is a possibility that there can be sudden severe turbulence
as well. Just to be safe, let the pax wear their seatbelt. I can understand this If a pap get's hurt, he or she will demand money from the
company for not turning on the seatbelt sign.

Safety is number 1 priority, ALWAYS

Yeah I am guess it is because I am turning it on just before descent and I might not actually start that descent for a few min. I am not
receiving any penality points for just the comment but I think next time I will wait till after I start descent and see what happens.
