There's only one situation where I actually use the ILS for its main purpose -- I can't see the runway. Visuals always otherwise.

I flew with a keyboard once or twice, back when I forst got FS95. I then went and bought a joystick. No looking back now.
I got myself a track IR at christmas - and I 100% use the Virtual cockpit and my head controls where I look. I now have a habit of turning my head to look around in flight sim - even with the track IR nto turned on - its weird when nothing happens. Just comparing what equipment is avilable now - to when the only choice was a keyboard and 8 bit colour. ![]()

I only do ILS landings when I use my LDS767 because the FMC automatically tunes in the ILS. In other planes I am too lazy to bother because I have to
set the radios etc...

Sometimes I do fly fully automated,
that's when I do a complete flight in passenger view. ATC sounds off, co-pilot sound odd, etc. Just the plane sounds and announcements and no cockpit view. It is actually fun ![]() Tasos.

I generally allow the auto pilot to line me up and start my descent, but then take it into manual for the touchdown. (I find that if I allow the
auto pilot to land me as well, then FSPassengers shouts at me for a too heavy landing.)

my autoland usually touches down at about 300fpm. I don't know what the exact touchdown vert speed was, as I only have one autoland.
All the rest (after I got my joystick) are manual.

the only time I have ever used autoland was when I first got the LDS767-300, I wanted to try it, atleast once, now I might use it toget
alligned but all my landings are done by hand

That's what I did for PMDG 737-NG/800/900, Just to see if it works. I also did it a second time, because there was zero visibility.
Now that I have bought th Level-D 767 and PMDG 747-400, I will try once each for them as well.

a) I still don't use a joystick (I started simming before they even existed so I've kinda got use to not using them)
b) I actually do have a flight yoke/pedals..somewhere, but I just can't be bothered to screw them onto my desk evertime I fly c) I basically operate ILS landings as follows: -Full A/P until 1'200 AGL then A/T and speed off -At 800 AGL A/P (and no risk of a go-around) A/P off. I have experienced the following: -Approx. 25% of the time, if I attempt a 100% autoland, my A/C will suddenly plunge to the earth at approx. 200-300 AGL. -If I disengage the A/P below 600 AGL the same happens. And, as mentioned, I you aim for a kiss landing, there's nothing better that a manual landing! ![]()

I use a bit of both and because of that I occassionally forget to disconnect the autothrottle and go careering over the grass the other end of r/w.
The pax hate it and ATC aren't overly enthusiastic. Tendancy is to let autoland complete on long flights and in zero visability (*as that is what is paid to do) else its manual intervention after capture. Oh! and unless I want to have a tower view when watching PMDG747 or LDS 767 coming into land somewhere spectacular.
