About release date...

Yes, GEO mentioned one of the two things I expected MS will implement in FS2002!!!.
One of them is a career mode, something FSP enables but also far far exeeds.

The other thing I was hoping for (way back than) was a 'living environment' on and around the airport.
Like... after you arrive, you're being refueled by animated fuel tankers, surrounded by catering trucks, busses would come for passengers
if the parking place is too far, otherwise 'harmonica corridor' (or what's its name?) would attach to the plane, 'follow me' vehicles would
escort you to the rwy, marshallers would help you park.........

Exactly what Oliver Pabst had implemented in his Bremen FULLY active scenery (eddw2k43.zip at flightsim) - DO TRY IT OUT to see what I
mean by 'fully' ;-) .

The point is ALL OF THAT COULD HAVE BEEN - AND IT WAS - IMPLEMENTED EVEN IN FS2000 - just check Oliver's lepa2k20.zip (at flightsim also).
Now, of course, it's impossible to make the world's airports separately, but..... I don't know.... maybe it's possible to make
something like that on a generic basis???

But who am I to to say?!

Doing things that nobody have done previously is my pleasure, I love bring things to
live, for FsP one early idea was to control somes vehicle around your aircraft but I finally
leave this idea while there is several problem and the time spend to code this don't justify
the small visual advantage...

Appart somes points as gear you cannot obtain model's shape coordinate so
at best the elevator for passengers and refueling truck would be misplaced
and doing this could take several month just to have somes vehicles
moving around you... small benefit, big work.

In fact MsFs have a big problem, a lot of its code smell like an old outdated things
the SDK is really old, complicated and don't give much possibilities...
The best solution for Ms would be to delete all the code and restart
from scratch immmo but they can't do that without destroying all the third party work.
(I wonder if it's not a false good reason because I don't things anyone use a lot of
Fs98 or 2002 material anyway)

I worked for Orbiter a free amazing space simulator that have a real SDK that
give access to 1000% more possibilities than Fs2004...
In Orbiter I can give you all the vehicle you want with all the animation you want
I can even do wildlife if I want... Orbiter is coded by ONE guy... it doesn't have the
graphicall quality of MsFs but if we consider the effort put in them (a big team with a lot of money
Vs a guy that do that on his spare time) MsFs clearly don't win the contest.

I'm curious to see how Fs2006 will evolve and if it's old crappy SDK will give more
possibilities.... I have a big doubt that Fs2006 will be anything else than a small
graphical lifting but I can be wrong...

Besides, now that I have all the addons I want (once FSP is released), Microsoft can allow itself to skip FS2006 and prepare 2008 the way
you mentioned!
But seriously,; MANY posts on the various forums support just that - 2 years time is short! It's better to skip one edition and have the
following one up to date - so to say. Ahhh. But I'm sure it won't happen.

Anyway.... this has a positive side also; in one of your previous posts you've said that FSP comes too late? No sir! Definetly not 'too'!
With such MS inertia even if they put some kind of a career mode (EVEN!!!!) it won't turn the folks away from buying your program.
It's like this: those who want well simulated airplanes with all the bells and whistles didn't quit on buying - say F1 ATR, c172R,DF727or
LD767 just because FS9 has default cessnas and boeings. Because they are better. Just as is your FSP over something MS can
(possibly?)implement by default. Have no fear!
And those who didn't buy them wouldn't have bought them ANYWAY!

One think that I would do if I would allowed to is also wildlife.. you know those pretty bird
that love to goes into engine at take-off

I made my first bird flying in 3d with flapping wings and IA in a sail simulator I have done in 1994...
we are in 2005 and still no birds flapping in Fs... (nice detail the bird IA was buged the bird never returned
near the player so I had to put a camera on one bird's back to see were those damn bird were going...
it was funny flying on the back of a flaping bird

That's what I speak when I say "bring to life"... small but nifty details...

And also passengers and truck moving around your aircraft, refueling, and oh well... infinite possibility.
The quest will only stop when we'll have the ultimate simulator, the one were you can even see ant in the grass.
(I'm affraid I would not be alive anymore when this will happen... but who know ?)

What I write here below is NOT meant to be another idea to be implementeted is FsP! )) It is just that if we start wandering, what
improvements could make MSFS more lively, I thought of the following:
I was amaised of the innovation that Operation Flashpoint or Battlefield offered, when they actually simulate a PERSON running around in
the field (scenery), and being able to sit INTO a vehicle or an aircraft. Surely they are far from a full scale simulator, but it gives the player
the impression, that he/she is not an aircraft but a person/character IN the aircraft.
This means what I dream of is the combination of this feature (leaving the plane) and the comlexity of a full scale sim. Just think of it!
Wouldnt it be nice, get out of the plane and walk around the other planes / vehicles, or enter the terminat (no matter how simple that is) or
even walk out to the runway treshhold. Or to see all of your aircraft at the same time parking on the apron?

Just brainstorming ...

There is alredy an program named: Active Camera. With this program you could walk around the aircraft and go in the terminal. Plus that
Active Camera has a lot more of such featers.

Wish list is fine. There are many airports now that have "full" airport environment animations. Let these addons do what they're designed to do and
keep FSP focused.

Dan, if you provide the majority of the features of FSP in such a way that users will "use" them all the time, you've created an addon that people
will gladly purchase in enough number to make you money. It's the addons that try to do too much that people look at and say, "well, this would be
fine, and I'd spend $45-$50 US on it, but I'm just not going to be able to use all of it's functionality. In fact, if I use 20% of it I'd be
surprised". Only a handful of ardent supporters will purchase under this scenario, and that would be disappointing.

I think you'll also find that many good suggestions will come from people actually using the first product release. Were it me, I wouldn't risk
wandering off into areas of programming that later might prove to be the wrong direction, or worse a case of wasted time and money.

Between you, me, the rest of the forum guys, and the fence post, I think you've provided more features than anyone could have asked for in a first
edition addon already.

Here's hoping we see it soon....

I will surely check it out. Actually I use Flight1's little add-on to move around in the plane. In fact that is for free.
Apart from this, what I was having in mind is that a program that has got the person/character as the basic unit that a player controls, and
the aircraft in our case is an instrument of transportation for him/her. In that way (if MSFS would develop to higher levels) more kinds of
activities could be made possible on an airfield. Such as operating the pushback truck for instance or serving as a marshal in a follow me
car. Personally I think a flight sim like that (person based sw) would open up a wide range of possibilities.

But that is just daydreaming. Maybe in the further future it could be possible though.

GEO, Follow Me's are a reality in FlightProject International. It's nothing more than a "plane" designed as a utility vehicle.

Ever race cars in MSFS? Not as good as NASCAR or the like, but nevertheless do-able.

If you're talking about one multi-player controling another's aircraft, that's also been done. Some amazing things are coming from developer efforts
these days. I certainly hope this trend continues AND that it coincides with the efforts Microsoft is putting forth in making changes in FS10.
