help - crash {non FS-Pax related}

hi guys,

i recently had my MSFS crash whilst changing time zones (moving into new scenery I guess) and it came up with a whole bunch of
Scenery/Cahce errors or something. This is the first time this has happened and the only thing i can put it down to is that I defraged my
computer the previous day. Has anybody experienced this? I thort a defrag was sposed to help but it's the only thing i can think of that
may be responsible for this. I have no secenery add-ons at all... just a few payware a/c, FSPax, Mytraffic, Airliner Pilot... all installed fairly
recently. Any thorts or suggestions?!?

Sounds like a simple "scenery overload" issue. This can happen from time to time with FS9. Is it a recurring issue, or did it just happen
the once? If it's a recurring problem, there's really no guaranteed fix except a complete removal and reinstallation. If it just happens
once, consider yourself lucky. Once FS crashes, it tends to do it again, and again, and again.....

If I have a crash for any reason I can't really 100% nail down (as in your case), and it occurs more than once, I'd do a complete reinstall.
You don't want a crash in the middle of a 6 hour flight (or even worse, 200 ft AAE on the final to the destination airport!)!

this is the first time this has happened. i haven't had time to do another trip since then... and i've been to nervous about potentially
wasting another few hours simming if it crashes. I had completed two or three regional trips earlier in the day, so i was going back and
forward over the same kinda airports (flying around Sydney (Australia) to a few regional centres) so maybe it was a bit of a once off.

I know the feeling (that after-crash nervousness). Basically, you've got to try it sooner or later if you want to keep flying, so why not do a
flight? Set up for a shorter flight (2 hours or less), and make sure you cross a time zone (since this is when the crash happened before).
If it happens again, then you know you've got to reinstall it. If it doesn't happen again, you know that you're good for now!

Jackal, I think the 9.1 patch of FS fixed this, do you use that patch?
