autopilot help

When I takeoff and then wait a little bit and have GPS set and then press the APP button it turns the other way and doesnt follow the flight plan.
Could it have something to do with ALT setting?

You're kidding, right? The APP button is for the APPROACH autopilot, not the laternal navigation feature of an FMC (or GPS in this case).

If you are flying a plan that is in the GPS make sure that the NAV / GPS switch is switched to GPS and press the NAV button on the
autopilot.

As mentioned above by Brad it is for approach holding. You need to switch on the Autopilot Master Switch (or similar) and then select options as
mentioned above by biddy... ALT will be for altitude hold etc BUT I would recommend reading up on the autopilot a bit as its worthwhile your time to
get to know it as its one of the features you will prob be using most in FS... and there is nice explanitory articles about autopilot usage etc.

Also, I'm assuming you're using the default aircraft. Perhaps you could check out some of the payware aircraft. Truly some great planes
out there!
