You can set the speed on aircraft equipped with throttle/thrust control as part of the autopilot. The more advanced versions of this are called FADEC
(Fully Automatic Digital Engine Control). Most airliners today have FADEC. By contrast, very few General Aviation aircraft have throttle control for
the engines.

On PMDG and LDS and PSS and such, those shortcut keys don't work at all. They use a completely different AP/AT/FMS system.

This is done with the V key in FsP! You press V then three digits, and that speed is enterd into autopilot.
