war zone!!!!! - Wally - 30-10-2006 Hey all! I've been playing FSP for quite a while now, but never actually bothered to sign up to the forums... the occasional snoop around what you guys had to say, but that was pretty much it! hehe Anyway, here's my warning.. BE AWARE OF THE WAR ZONES!!!!! The other day i was loooking around for new destinations to fly to, so decided to fly to to some far eastern european country, forgot now which one it was. Apon approach the war zone risk bar came up... 5%, the whole time till touch down nothing happened. As this was my first time to actually to fly over a war zone i was pretty suprised that nothing actually happened, all it did was give my pilot extra points... GREAT i thought! Lets start flying to war zone countries more often and get those extra points, i need those promotions! lol On next flight I decided to go to Iraq, what better place to find some war zone!? Upon decent everyhting seemed fine until i reached about 5,000 ft the war zone risk bar gradually staretd rising... my heart beating faster as it rose. Me thinking what the hell did i get into... who knows what will hapeen next? still though.. nothing happened... i had the runway in sight and i was about to get those other extra points! Then i heard the strangest sound... where those really gun shots? "Captain, Captain.. we have lost all hydraulics!!!"... Oh cr*p.. what do i do now, i still need to retract my landing gear!!! Oh well.. a belly landing it would be... By this time i had already callled a mayday and i was still seeing hope to get this baby down. then more gunshots "Captain, Captain.. left engine down!"... oh CR*P!!!! What now...? More gunshots.. "Captain, Captain, Right engine leaking fuel!".. . by this time i felt like a flying sponge. Then more gunshots.. NOOO!!!!! "Captain... all electrical systems are down!!!", OMG i had no idea where i was (good thing i had the runway in sight!), i did not know what my speed and altitude was.. this was to be done my my gut i i wanted to save all 141 passengers aboard, who by this time wre pssin their pants. i managed to get the baby down... half missing the runway, but who cares anyway... my newly bought A321 was wrecked!!!! Almost made me bankrupt anyway...! so here my advice to you.. keep those extra points in the pocket ![]() Re: war zone!!!!! - Kpeters - 31-10-2006 Been there! My brand new Fokker F-100 got heavily damaged while landing at Bogota ![]() Re: war zone!!!!! - Ceemosp - 31-10-2006 ROFLMAO Good thing the only 'warzones' I can reach from my homebase are Downing Street No. 10 and the Vatican PLUS the occasional quarrel with my girlfriend :p I guess I'll stay away from that 'playground' for a while until I have a better financial situation ![]() Greetz Carsten Re: war zone!!!!! - Wally - 31-10-2006 It was quite the experience nonetheless... and i was really suprised when this happened that FSP was even this realistic!!!! ![]() Re: war zone!!!!! - Launchbury - 31-10-2006 Flying into Haiti in my Cessna 195, my engine was knocked out on short and final. Stalled and crashed into the ocean. Re: war zone!!!!! - Joeflyer - 31-10-2006 I like flying out of Bogata just to see if anything will happen. Fortunately I haven't been shot at while on any departures, but on the first arrival I made into Bogata, Columbia, the aircraft got shot up pretty bad. Safe landing though. I like getting the War Zone bonus cash ![]() Re: war zone!!!!! - SorelRo - 08-12-2006 I sacrifice a plane when i need some points for a promotion. And come on .... what a thrill to came with an Tu-134 or an AN-24 on Baghdad Intl. But i always cancel IFR when i'm close to land. Enter on VFR and get a hard dive as hard as the plane and passanger can get and try to get a fast fast approach. I mannaged once to land only with some holes. I heared the gunshots the "breeze" in the cabin, but that's it. Nice money, nice points but i couldn't use the "emergency call" ![]() Re: war zone!!!!! - Anton - 11-12-2006 I would suggest adding some sort of "protection" to the aircraft, maybe? I think that the C-130 is harder to bring down than an F-100... after all, military cargo planes are built for such things, aren't they? |
