Moderation.
Dear user,

Your post has been removed due to double posting as you have already created a topic about this without seemingly consulting

Ok, I reinstalled it and it started working fine for a few days. I just started it back up today and I received the same error message! Hunappy

Ok, I would advise at this moment in time for you to uninstall the version of FSP you have on your computer, re-download FSP from this website and
then install the fresh download. Once you've got it installed and have activated it, check for updates.

I have reinstalled my FS probably 5 times to make this FSP program to work and STILL no use. What the hell is going on?!

Have you re-downloaded FSPX from this website any of the times you've reinstalled the program?

Yes, I downloaded and installed the demo from this very site and other times from the website where I purchased it from - no difference!

Sounds like you need to start completely from scratch here, which would mean uninstalling everything to do with flight sim, then reinstalling it all,
making sure you restart your computer after each install, installing the relevant flight sim service packs and then finally installing FSP.

So that just means service packs and addons right? Do I need to do anything with the registry? Also, I am installing FS to a different folder
(instead of c:/program files/microsoft games/fsx) I am installing to C:\FS\ Would that have anything to do with it? I've been installing to this
folder instead of the default because my flight1 Mustang wouldnt respond to the default folder.

You need to remove everything - you won't have to mess around in the registry - you just need to make sure that all the files have been removed
(including any freeware add-ons you installed ourself manually) are removed.

Yes, installing to a different root file path will cause problems - you should in all circumstances install to C:/program files/microsoft
games/fsx
as FSX has problems reading for anything that isn't in that root path.

Are you sure about that? I have never installed to the default path, and have never had any problems with FSP, FSX, FS9, or any other
add ons.

There are alot of reasons why one wouldnt want to install to the default location. So I'm not sure your statment that "you should in all
circumstances install to C:/program files/microsoft games/fsx as FSX has problems reading for anything that isn't in that root path.", is an accurate one.

@mikearuba, I am not suggesting you make any changes to your registry, as doing so without knowing exactly what you are doing can
cause severe damage to your p.c. However, provided your registry contains the correct path to the install directory, you can install to any
directory you want. You could install to your desktop if you want. (Yes, that would be really silly and totally unadvisable).

To verify this, the key in question is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0
SetupPath (SetupPath should contain the full directory location to where FSX is installed)

But you can install to any directory you wish, and in fact should change from the default for improved performance if you have more than
one hard disk.

If you havent uninstalled everything yet, I would advise that instead of going through the headache of removing all of your FSX and addon's
that you attempt a system restore. Try to restore to the point before you instaled FSP for the very first time, ideally to the last software
distribution prior to your first install of FSP. Then attempt a fresh install of FSP. You can always undo the system restore if the results
were not as you expected.

NOTE: A system restore does not delete or remove files you have saved. It changes your registry to the state it was at the selected restore
point. It also removes any files that were created as part of a software install.

A system restore is quick and painless and can be undone.

Also,

Have you looked at the event viewer? I highly suspect that you have an incompatible library link after a MS security update. You can
access the event viewer by clicking the Windows button and typing "eventvwr.msc" (without quotes) in the search box. Look at the
Application and Services log, and take note of anything with a yellow exclamation (!) or red X. This will give you a clue as to whats causing
the conflict if there is one.

I hope that helps.

By the way I am MSCE for Win98, NT, 2K, XP, and Vista, however Win7 isnt that different, so feel free to ask if you need more help.

I'm sure its an easy fix, as long as you know where to look.

Quite sure; I've had FSX since it came out and have spent many, many days experimenting with add-ons and whether or not FSX reads them properly or at
all according to their root path.

@mikearuba,

I just thought of one other thing you could try. Try running FSX in compatiblty mode. Here's how:

1. Right click on the FSX shortcut, .exe file, (or setup exe if you are going to re-install).

2. Click on Properties.

3. Click on the Compatibility tab. NOTE: If the Compatiblity options are grayed out, then yioiu are using 64 bit and the compatibility option
cannot be changed

4.
A) Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box.

B) Click on the drop down menu arrow and select which version of Windows the program was made for. Suggest the one that it used to
work.
NOTE: Always pick the latest Windows version the program was written for to have a better chance of it running properly in Windows 7. XP
is a good choice.

5. Check or uncheck the settings you want.

6. Run the program as an administrator. Some programs require administrator privileges to run properly. If you are not currently logged
on as an administrator, this option is not available. Check or uncheck the Run this program as an administrator box to enable or disable
this option.

7. To Change All of These Settings Above for All Users - This lets you choose settings that will apply to all users on this computer.
A) Click on the Change settings for all users button.
B) Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 in this window to apply them to all users on the computer.
C) Click on OK.

8. Click on OK to apply the changes.

Let me know if that helps.

I respectfully disagree. Changing the default install path will not cause problems. If a specific add-on can not function properly because
the default install path of FSX was changed, that is unfortunately bad programming on part of the add-on software author.

I have changed my default path, as have many many others, and FSP and FSX and my numerous add-ons work perfectly.

@mikearuba,

If you are still in doubt about this, I suggest you contact Microsoft, or visit one of the many flight sim forums available and verfiy, however I
can tell you with 100% certainty that changing the default installation path is not the cause of your problems.
