I am sorry for the Stupid Question but will the FSPassengers X work on the FSX Acceleration.

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Jambone - 04-12-2007

Seeing as they're both just addons, I presume it will Wink

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Flying Monkey - 06-12-2007

I've just seen today that Hi Fi (the developper of Active Sky) are currently trying to squeeze in the market of FSPassengers with a product they've
called XPax (I wonder if it's on purpose that they've given a name so close from the FsPassengers favourite nickname "FsPax"). In my opinion it's
probably going to include half or less of FsPax functionnalities with a ridiculous price. For example it seems they did not include fleet management,
maintenance, failures - a lot of central points in FsPax genius (also, getting rid of failures allow them to get rid of the most complicated part of
the development and release their thing faster).
FsPax is perfect for me, and I support Dan's creativity (he had brilliant ideas and implemented them all by himself). They say they're real close from
release, so I hope that you're making good progress Dan, and don't let imitation take away a part of your market.
En tous cas moi je prefere l'original a la copie! Bonne chance Dan

I wish people wouldn't keep saying, "Oh Dan! Please don't rush!" (it sounds postively rude) Turning

Instead I say, "Come on man, get it done!" Smile

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - jboweruk - 06-12-2007

I guess you can't blame them for wanting a piece of the action, FSPassengers was very successul, and I'm sure Dan can handle a bit of
competition.

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Flying Monkey - 06-12-2007

Well I totally agree with the fact that Dan will probably handle very well competition: when a bigger company like Hi Fi with many people tries to
release a similar addon to FsPax, and ends up with something with half the functionnality, it shows how much FsPax is the best deal around in term of
addons. I just hope that some player will scratch the surface of the shiny webpages of Hi Fi and realize that it has no depth in comparison to Fs Pax

To Dan
Apart form the concept - FSPassengers - it is nothing like your great program.
How many times can you watch a 300mb video?
Who cares about points? and whats the point anyway - to accumulate points - I don't see the point??
Everyone is different and I'm sure it may appeal to many who like eye candy but I don't see any longivity in it at all.
Dans product allows for so much more and has the all important UNPREDICTABILITY of failures depending on how you fly which adds
infinite possibilities.Plus Fleet management - Pilot career etc.. I don't have to preach ot the converted.

I'm all for competition as I think it just makes good products better and if a company with many good developers really wanted to they
could bring out a product that would be very good and then Dan may have to get some help - But until such time FSPassengers is it.

I know how develpment goes and that you could work on something for ages and feel like you have not got anywhere but an informed
customer is a happy customer Dan and it would be really nice(for lack of a better word) if you provided periodic updates even if it is no
news.

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - jboweruk - 07-12-2007

Oh don't worry, they don't get more loyal than me, hence I'm on FS9 until Dan has finished FSPax X. Whatever way you look at it, he has
bragging rights, he thought of it first and it's been around since I can't remember when now. I know I was using it last Crimbo.

Hi-Fi though are good at what they do, Weather, and their new ASX looks superb, might buy it so I'm ready for the release of FS Pax X. So
that will be two great jobs done, desert is cured (in USA at least) and WX, now for Co-Pilot and FSPax for FSX and I'll start converting.

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - saint4 - 07-12-2007

I think some of you guys need to come out from dan's arse.

Some of the things in this thread are ridiculous.

Whether or not their point system works differently, doesn't dan's system give you points for landing at the correct airport and etc.
So what if they added a video to the system it's something extra isn't it. I'm sure if dan did the same thing you wouldn't be making this arguement,
you'd probably be kissing his arse.

I'm sure dan knows his work is invaluble, theres nothing wrong with competition. The industry thrives on it.

Some of you saying half the features blah blah, have you never heard of updates like the same thing dan does.

Y start of with something huge when its easier on the developer to iron out details and add stuff in later.

From the screens and what i've read it sounds just like fspassengers, more or less.

If you don't want it, don't buy it. Simple.

If your happy with this product then stick with it.

Ps. Pricing will be 16.99EUR for an approximate 300MB instant download (subject to change).

Saint4: you are forgetting one teeny-tiny point. This is the FsPassengers Forum, a place where FSP fans can vent both their joys as well as their
frustrations encountered with this app.

Do you really expect someone to post a "Errmmm, well, nice product but I couldn't care less if there's a FSX update" comment?

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - jboweruk - 13-12-2007

Hardly kissing his ass as you put it, another thing you forget is a lot of the older members helped Dan to throw around ideas as well. We
discussed how to make money and how to implement things in FSPax. And some of the even longer serving members actually have
voice talent in the add-on. So of course we're loyal to Dan, that's natural isn't it? He listened to us, and tried hard to implement things we
wanted to see.

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - BOB - 13-12-2007

I've just checked Xpax' homepage out and it does look nice & slick. It does look like something I could kill the time with untill FSP for FSX
is released...

But what FSP got going for it is the economy that it brings into the game. As Obwan said, who gives a damn about gathering points' It's
meaningless. But gathering money...that 's something entirely different, and it's makes the game so much more immersive. That's why
FSP, eventhough it doesn't looks as flashy as Xpax, beats the latter hands down.

That said, the waiting time is absolutely killing me. :-) I've even considered reinstalling FS9 again just to get FSP going. Talk about
desperate. My FS life is in limbo untill those precious lines of code are released.

hey dan!
keep up the good work!
if you manage to get it out before the new year you will have loads of money to spend on a huge party ;-) lol

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Capt. Wotan - 13-12-2007

Hey,

I haven't been on the forums for a while, i do look at them from time to time, mainly for updates. I think that the new product from HiFi looks
interesting, i use (and love) AS6.5, it's fantastic.

Personally i used FSX for a bit, with the exception of the ATC, things have improved and i look forward to Dan developing FsPassengers for FSX. I
will also be keeping a close eye on the HiFi product, it won't stop me buying FsPassengers, but i may use it in the interim.

Just thought i'd throw my two pence in....

Re: FsPassengers for FSX official note and please ! - Flying Monkey - 14-12-2007

No need to be rude here, I don't see why Saint4 feels the need to use the words he uses. I really don't feel like I'm playing the fanboy too much
here, XPax has probably some nice features, it looks like a sort of FSPassengers but it's definitely really not it - the failures aspect is what has
been delaying Dan for a while, he was already the only one to achieve the amazing failure system of FSPassengers for FS2004, it looks like he's the
only making the effort for FSX (FS Flying School does a good job for failures, although without the any integration of cockpit atmosphere like the
mayday etc - it's still the one to go if you want that feature while waiting for FSPassengers X)- therefore it's easy for XPax to come with the
passengers side of the story and drop out the failure and fleet management, but in the end it's not honest to say that XPax is the same or looks like
FSPax. And pretending that, possibly maybe, in some undetermined future, the devs might add the failures or fleet management is really misleading and
a tiny bit dodgy.
Anyway, I haven't got any big issue with HiFi in general, I'm an ActiveSkyX user (although I feel more grumpy with the split between activeskyX and
Xgraphics and the total price of both packages). I'm just very sceptical about XPax....
