FSP over an network??

Hi!

My name is Daniel Rosh, I'm an cockpit builder. I've got almost an full 737NG cockpit here at home. But I was
wondering, is it possible to
use PSP on an diffrent computer, an that it will comunicate with FS over the Network? Because I'm using 7 PC's
for my cockpit and I
doesn't want an little screen in my outside view. So if it's possible to run it on an other PC that sould be fantastic!!

Plus I can't wait for the release!!

Hello FsP have to be runned on the main PC the one that perform flight calculation
because he need to access flight data (FsP access a lot of value that aren't accessible
by the normal ways, so it look directly in the FS2004 memory, doing this by network
would be impossible)

What "litle screen" are you worried about can you be more precise please ?
(you mean the mini-report display?)

Thanks for your replay, in one of the screenshots you see an blauw little screen.

If that screen will be always open, that will be an little problem.

You can hide it completely by a keyboard shortcut , or you can reduce its size.



Whatever its size is, when displayed, you can move and dock it where you want on the panel.

it's not stated in the screenshot text but it seem logical, It can be closed of course.

Here if you right click on this report you have a menu that appear to customize it's look:



And FsP of course remember your setting across the flights...

So ... no problems.

Only one more question.
I see that you could damage your aircraft, for example the gear, flaps and everything. But there are also Engene faliears. (Sorry dont know
how to write that word.) Is it possible to say witch problems you want and witch not. For example. You could say I only want gear and flap
problem, or I doesn't want any problems.

you can set the "severity" of the problems that you want in the option, at level 1 you will only
have slow fuel leak and such "easy failure" at level 3 you may have engine failure at take-off
and such difficult failure...

you can also set the chance that you can have a failure from 0% to 100%

In normal gameplay you can't choose by menu a specific failure while I find this dumb
and the contrary of the hasardous of failures...

Howewer :

For those that want to train specific failure I have done a litle config file that
is called "manual_failure.bak" if you rename it to "manual_failure.cfg"
you will be able to choose manually a failure that will happen at each flight
while changing a parameter in this file (IE: you select a failure number)

Rename it to "manual_failure.bak" once your done with failure training....
(notice this file doesn't contain "event" failure such as DCA or flap and gear
damage by speed, but those are easy to train)

I see! Thanks for your help again.
Sould it be possible to get an BETA version of the DEMO?? To test how it will work with my cockpit? Because it will be not easy to find an
easy way to use it in an real cockpt. Please let me test it, then every body knows how it will works in an real cockpit.

Basically you have at least one computer that run Fs2004 even with a real cockpit so
I don't see why there would be any problems...

Many peoples have good reasons to want a beta, sorry

At worse the release isn't that far so you will be able to test it.

No I mean to test it via the network, over an program that called WIDEFS, many cockpit builders want to use your program! And mabye I
could test for you if you could use it over the network. For us (cockpit buiders) it will be vere handy if it couild!

FsP have to run on the main PC the one that run Fs2004, the one that have joystick input
and keyboard input, the one that give you the sound... in technical word the one that contain
in his memory all the flight value, A PC throught wideFS don't have all the needed memory value.
And also FsP forbid the slew mode when you run a FsP flight.

I know intimately what I coded and Fs2004 also so no need to test,I can give you the
answer right now: if FsP don't run on the main PC it will not work. (it will not crash
but you will not be able to start a FSP flight)

I wonder why you absolutely want to run FsP on an other PC than the main one ?
FsP don't eat framerate if it's your concern (I can barrely see a difference when I run a FSP flight
with my old P4 1.7Ghz in 1280x1024 with almost all slider at max)

Look we have one PC for only FS, and three for the cockpit plus 3 for all the utilites. It sould be easyer for us to have the FSP on the utility
computer. Because the utilites comptuer has one moniter free for the weather program or the online flying things, plus FSP. Because if
we dont to that i've got then all things from FSP in my outside vew. (The outside view we have an real panel not one at our screen.). So
please let us test to make something like an client version that could run over WIDEFS.

You want to make a client version of FsP ? I mean... you want to rework my 43'893 lines (counted without comments)
of C++/Asm codes that took me one years to write ?

FsP don't have thousand things to display on screen when you run a flight , only the mini report
and you can close it, FsP is basically a sound feedback add-on when you are in flight,
also there is a "sky" background color for the mini report , it can stay in one corner minimized
without to much visual impact...



And even you don't need absolutely the mini feedback in flight , if you do all well as in reality
the passengers will be always satisfied at 100%... real pilot don't have a display with the mood of the
passengers in front of them - and they perform well.

And believe me , I know what I have done during this years, a client version is impossible
and I don't see really the benefit in regards of how FsP work.
