Hello Fellow Simmers,
I have Flight Simulator X and FS Passengers installed on my new Dell Inspirion 346 computer and they are both working fine. No problems there.
But I am having problems in using ANY game controller for Flight Simulator on my new Windows 8.1 computer.
It is a Dell imspirion 3646 and according to Dell, all drivers are up to date.
However, when I plug in either my (Brand Spanking New 2 months old) Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 stick or my barely 1 year old CH Products USB Flight Sim yoke nothing happens. N O T H I N G!
Generally, when you plug in a USB device the computer will make a musical jingle and a pop-up will appear stating that it is installing drivers for this product. Never happens on my system.
I installed the latest driver that Thrustmaster had available but my system still says that I have no game controllers installed. I have a tech request pending with them but I have my doubts simply because of the run-around I received with CH products.
I spent over 2 hours on the phone with a service tech from CH products and the only thing that I can say that was of use is the fact that I will no longer be a customer for CH products. Followed step-by-step what he said to do and when nothing happened it was always my fault. Then it was because my new computer was defective. Then it was because My CH products were bad and I needed to purchase new ones. Why? Just got these less than a year ago so if they were bad you can replace them. Then he said no way, that I had damaged them and that they were not responsible for customer damages. I told him what he could do with himself and hung up.
I updated this driver, then I updated that driver. I removed drivers and then reinstalled the drivers. Nothing.
I set all my USB controllers (as instructed) to not shut off power and still nothing.
My computer works great, is completly up-to-date and doesn't miss a beat!
My install of Flight Simulator X runs well with the exception that it only has a mouse yoke as a controller and that is no way to run an airline!
Im hoping that someone may have a miracle cure for me and I can get back to actually being able to fly.
My only other choice at this time is to attempt to rebuild my faithful Windows 7 setup that I had for years until the motherboard decided to quit on me and I'm beginning to think that this may be the best way to go about it.
I would love to hear from anyone that might be able to offer a suggestion that might get me off of the ground again. (where are you at when I need you Joe Flyer.)
Thanks again for any help.
