IMHO.............
At 22yrs. old I would find another instructor! Gender has nothing to do with it.......You have to shop for flight instructors like you would for
doctors or lawyers....This is your money....And it will cost you alot for your ratings. So make sure that you being taught by someone who has the
experience to teach!
This may sound kind of hard, But how many hours does 'she' have....what other ratings....is 'she' just building time so 'she' can move on?
As you progress you will want to get out of trainers....look up the prices on some good 4 place airplanes. Kinda of pricey,Huh?....you'll have to ride
with an instructor to get "Checked out" in one of those....And then there is the "Commercial Rating"...Now your moving into the complex world.
Retracts and variable pitch....You dont want to be learning something then that you should've been taught as a private pilot student.
I have "Always sought out older instructors" for that reason...Knowledge....Experience...the ability to teach!......Yes it would be cool to take your
first long cross country with a good looking 22yr old girl sitting next to you......But me.....I'd rather have someone that wouldnt' even have to
think if something went wrong!
It's your money....Go out and get the best "Damned Instructors" you can. Ask question about them to other students....you will probably see pattern
start to develop.
I will never forget when I went to a local FBO here in Phoenix for my Bi-Annual flight review.....The guy that had checked me out to rent there, who I
really liked was on vacation....So they told me so and so could do it. He was in his 20's and I was in my late 30's....I knew I was in trouble when we
lined up on the runway and he said "He would do the first take-off"....Remember it's your money!
Sorry....for being long winded and opioninated....But I've seen crappy instructor's in my flying years.
