All of the stress testing I did on my pc may have corrupted some FS9 files and may have been deleted by Windows during a reboot.
Originally I had a C: disk error and Windows automatically scanned the disk on reboot and found quite a few corrupt files and deleted
them as it went through the 3 phases of scanning the disk. Once it did this, I was able to get a clean reboot, no errors and could access
FS9....BUT, it went through rebuilding the scenery database. I have no idea which .bgl files were deleted because the deletion went too
dang fast for me to take note, but I do know they were .bgl files. I will find out what problems I will have when I load a flight tonight.
I may end up having to uninstall FS9 and rebuild everything from scratch again. So much for overclocking my pc The lessons I have
learned from this have been invaluable.
UPDATE: It seems that the PMDG 747 had some issues after the stress tests on my pc. Shortly after loading the aircraft at KPDX or any other airport, I would get an instant reboot. This did not happen with the LDS 767. So, I ran the 747.exe and did a repair installation to replace any files that may have been corrupt. I was able to make a successful flight KPDX-KORD without any problems.
As far as the overclocking goes, I backed off from 3.5 Ghz to 3.0 Ghz, as my machine seems to run stable at that setting. I haven't figured out why I can't get it stable beyond that because my mobo, Intel chips and RAM are suppose to handle higher overclocks. It seems I have to pour alot of volts into the the CPU beyond 3.0 Ghz and adjust the Northbridge too high as well. That doesn't make me feel comfortable at all. I've got more research to do!
