Hi All,
As title says this question is aimed at anyone with some tech knowledge of comps, my system is a P4 2.4 Ghz intel with 1 GB DDR
ram and the Nvidia Geforce FX 5950 Ultra Graphics card.At the moment I have a 400w power supply so I bought myself a 550w power
supply as I have 1 x cd re-writer, 1 x dvd re-writer, 2 x 120 gb hard drives, 1 x floppy, plus the graphics card has a power socket and also
have internal flurescent lighting in case so with all that demanding power I thought I would beef up the supply. However when I got it
home & tried to put it in I found that my motherboard (can't think of brand at moment) has an extra socket for a power plug which is not on
the 550w unit, so had to keep 400w unit in, my question is can I use both power supplies at once, using the 400w to power say the
motherboard and the 550w to power everything else?Would that work and would I notice any difference or would it be a waste of time?
Any help on this would be gratefully received.
Phil
