Of course a yoke is the best input method for FS, but then again it's not a joystick.
I use Logitech Extrem3D Pro and it does a great job. Lots of buttons, too.

If you are looking for something a little less conventional, I use a logitech cordless gamepad... works great but a bit tricky on pitch at take
off and rotation for landing. Phil

I use a Sidewinder from microsoft. A good joystick, just not the most realistic. The throttle is a small lever on the left side. It is fairly
economic with the use of its space. A friend sold it to me for $20 so it was a steal.

what joystick or yoke gets more close to reality?
09-08-2005, 04:32 PM
If you want as close as reality as possible, get the CH products... pedals, yoke and thrust levers.

As Ryan said, if you want reality, get at least a yoke and pedals. I flew with joysticks of all sorts for as long as I've been flying Flight
Simulator (a really long time), and finally went to a yoke and pedals from CH Products earlier this year. It's a world of difference! I have flown in the real world several times, and flying with the joystick started feeling awkward after awhile in comparison. I could never, ever go back to a joystick after using a yoke and pedals. Check Ebay if you're worried about cost. I got mine, brand new in the boxes, from a reputable distributor through Ebay for a very good price!

First check out these:
http://www.flightgear.org/Projects/RayCh...chair.html http://www.multiplaycity.com/products/ro...nride.html http://mypce.com/ ......but if you don't fall for such fancy stuff, here's good news - RETRO IS IN: http://www.gadgetstuff.com/product.asp?id=12671 Seriously speaking - CH Combatstick and Pro Throttle (around $200 together) is a great choice, but if I'd buy now , I would go for Saitek X- 45 and its throttle because these can be adapted veeeeery nicely: http://users.acninc.net/padipaul/HBCP.htm http://www.mickposch.com/Flight_Sim/Collective.htm Nice, isn't it!? Hope I'll do the same soon. "Blessed are those who can laugh at their own mistakes, for they shall never cease to be amused "

Quote:If you want as close as reality as possible, get the CH products... pedals, yoke and thrust levers. Unless you want to fly a F16.... Or an Airbus! I can't decide myself yet. I'll probably get a yoke but can't afford the rudders as well. What to do

I personally do as Nem. I use Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, works like a dream (and as said, has millions of buttons). 12 standard buttons (shift:able to
24) rudder (by twisting the handle), throttle control and hat switch. But, a yoke is great for better immersion. "Dont be too optimistic. The light at the end of the tunnel could be a train." - Franz Kafka

I currently use a Skytek cyborg joystick, a home-made throttle quadrant (saved myself $200) and CH pedals.
THe pedals and throttle quadrant have made a world of difference to the flying - much easier and more realistic. Joystick - ailerons, elevators, elevator pitch, rudder pitch, ATC, Kneeboard, view (hatswitch and twist) Pedals - rudder and differential braking Throttle quadrant Setup A - throttles (for up to two engines), propeller axis, mixture axis, gear (up/down), flaps up full, flaps down incremental, flaps down full Setup B - throttles (for up to four engines), flaps up full, flaps down incremental, flaps down full

I think this thread would fit better in the FS2004 general forum, isn't it?
I'm moving it! Pagir

Hmm, seem this forum has a minor bug. I hit the "reply" link before Pagir posted and moved the thread, but submitted my own reply after the
thread was already moved --> reply lost. So here it goes again: Quote:I personally do as Nem. Edit: I found out how it's supposed to work, now I just need to figure out why the profiler won't start. Post Edited ( 08-09-05 23:52 )
