Hi everyone,
I was thinking of the evacuation procedure in FsP.
In FsP evacuation always starts.
In the real world the captain has to give the command before evacuation will start. The captain knows if it is safe to evacuate (engines
must be shut down and flaps in full down position for example).
At transavia.com it is normal that the cabin crew wait for one of the commands from the cockpit: "EVACUATE AIRCRAFT" or "REMAIN
SEATED".
Also when they notice that it is not necessary to evacuate the plane immediately, then they won't. They will taxi back to the gate and
disembark the plane via gate and/or stairs.
So for FsP I think it would be great if the cabin crew would wait with evacuation until the captain would give the command to evacuate the
aircraft (or maybe the command 'remain seated' as well). Also the choice of evacuating the plane with stairs or slides (with slides will
cost much more money and could also damage the plane, but will be faster. With stairs will take longer, but is cheaper and safer. So
airlines will prefer this when an immediate evacuation is not necessary).
Also what would be cool if a fire inside the cabin could be added as an emergency. And also on different places, lavatory fire, hatrack fire,
oven fire, etc. The purser will inform the captain of the fire and that the cabin crew will start to extinguish the fire. Cockpit crew immediate
reaction should be to descend and land the plane as quickly as possible. The purser could keep the cockpit crew informed about the fire.
It is extinguished or getting worse, etc. Also, when a plane landed with fire inside the cabin, evacuation has to be started as quickly as
possible. Maybe if it took too long before the captain landed or initiated a SAFE evacuation (engines off, etc), passengers could get hurt or
even die because of the fire/smoke. But if the captain initiated evacuation too soon (with engines still running) he could get penalized for it as he is creating a dangerous situation.
Another idea is with the decompression. I had my safety training about oxygen. Normal procedure is an emergency descent to safe
altitude. When the plane is at a safe altitude the command from the cockpit "MASKS OFF" will be given.
However, it is possible that you cannot immediately descend to a safe altitude (because of mountains), so you have to level off and give
the command: "KEEP MASKS ON" as the pax and cabin crew do not know that you didn't descend to a safe altitude yet. When it is
possible to descend to a safe altitude again, the command:"EMERGENCY DESCENT" will be given and as soon as you are at a safe
altitude the command:"MASKS OFF".
I think this would also be a great add-on.
Thnx for reading!!!!! I know it's quite a story ghehe.
Tasos.
