sound of brakes

I reinstalled flight simulator 2004 and put in my fspassengers (with saved flight info) into fs9. Fspassengers works fine but I am unable to hear the
brakes. I have the sound volume for it set on high and I can hear it just fine in the test scree but I get nothing while braking on the tarmac. It's
the only sound I think that is missing. Would appreciate some advice.

Can you find that brakeing sound in your FSP sound folder, if not that should be the problem.

Personally, i get the brake sound on some planes, and not on others, never looked into why, maybe i should

Yep, like the Citation and ATR come to mind. Anything larger than the ATR seems to have the brake sound.

thanks but I had brake sounds for this aircraft before (Alaska 737-900) and did check the fspassenger sound folder and the brakes sound was there and
plays just fine. Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Just to let you know, the brake effect only is heard on Aircraft above a certain weight

If you're doing a flight with fspassenger sounds only you're unable to hear the brakes. If doing an actual flight with fspassengers then you're able
to hear.
