Hi everyone,
Before FSP I just used FS9 to practice MVFR/IFR flying.
Now I run a little air charter. And I want to have FS to be as realistic as possible.
So in that endeavor I have added a lot of FS add-ons. I want to see if I have missed any that will make FS more realistic.
- Real Scene 2004 - 30 meter terrain mesh (with the FS9.cfg file "TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21" so FS9 displays the 30 meter mesh) Mountainous approaches are much more realistic.
- USA Roads - For the other kind of IFR flying. I Fallow Roads. (I don't really, but it makes the metropolitan areas look better.)
- Active Sky 6 - To get real weather and forecasts.
- Flight Environment - This makes the sky and water look beautiful and you just want to look outside.
- Ultimate Traffic - I fly out of KFCM which is a reliever airport of KMSP. Hearing and seeing all of the Northwest Airlines traffic adds a lot of realism.
- Reality XP's Garmin GNS-430XP, Bendix WX500, Sandel ST3400 - I'm an avionics tech in the real world so having good and realistic avionics is important to me. The Garmin GNS-430/530 have dominated the avionics world ever since there introduction. Because of panel space I use the 430 and love navigating/flight planning with this unit. The WX500 is mostly a curiosity in FS. But it is nice to have a realistic radar in the panel. Sandel ST3400 is a terrain/traffic/topo map/RMI indicator. When doing nighttime approaches into mountainous areas some kind of terrain indicator is really nice to have.
I plan on getting Radar Contact 4 when I start flying the heavies. I don't enjoy flying in "the system" and until I need the help I say no thankyou to ATC.
I'm also waiting for Birds Eye View Winter. When it comes out I want to get the whole set.
I fly in the great lakes states & Canada so I don't have any specific area scenery.
Well did I miss any non-aircraft add-ons that brings more realism to FS?
TIA
