FSX SP2 is very stable on my quad core Vista 64 system, 512gig 8800GTx2, 4gig RAM. Can't remember when, if ever, its crashed. Still
can't get good frames and decent graphics at the same time around the largest airport centers like NYC, Paris, London, etc...

Haven't tried Win 7. Any good?

Well so far i can say, the FSX with Win 7 have a litle more fps than on vista, about a 5%-7%, flygin a wilco a321 with skaitraffic at 70%,
default scenery and high to ultra quality option i have and average about 20-22 FPS on ground and more than 30 on flight (fps fix to 30),
my currente machine are

Win7 RC
Core2Duo 6420@2.67Ghz
2GB Corsair @833Mhz
Asus P5B-E MB
e-VGA 8800GTS OC Edition 512MB
250GB Maxtor Sata II HDD

and a lot of fans on my case , about 12 fans :turning:

Hmmm. Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's a little more efficient. How does win 7 work with other programs? Is it more backwards
compatable for programs than Vista? I'm a fan of the Shrapnel Games programs but Vista 64 spits them out whenever I try to run one.

Does it seem to use your RAM more efficiently? Lots of questions, sorry. I really like Vista's new features.

Well... is ram, seem be a little more efficient than vista, when i shutdown FSX on vista, take a time clear up the ram from the fsx's files,
whin 7, the time need for that is less than vista... i will test on other programs, so i can have a better idea about the compatibility with older
sw.

Windows 7 is only in a pre-release stage at the moment and the release stage expires in August, so there really is no point trying fsx in it.

Windows 7 RC1 is about to run more than 10 month from the date of its release - just until the time the retail (not OEM - this one will get onto the
market a bit sooner - probably Autumn '09 or earlier) version is released in early 2010.

I have it installed. It is very stable. Moving from 32bit Vista to 64bit WIn 7 is a difference that you notice. I get better fps keeping the same
setting as in Win Vista. Not to mention the DirectX 10 preview functionality. It just looks and works much better :) I run FSX with SP1 + SP2
installed, Wilco's Airbus series, default sceneries and ASA + XGraphics and, of course, FsPX. Never had a crash to desktop or another serious trouble...

Windows 7 is fully backwards compatible with Win Vista (it uses its updated core) and on top of that offers Windows XP virtualization (but only for
powerful computers) so I'd say Win 7 does the compatibility job much better than Vista...

David.
