Active Sky X or Real Weather Xtreme
Author: Goose      60 Posts  Status: Pilot near incorporation    Date    01-30-09 20:33

Hey everyone, I am looking into getting a better weather system, but i wanted to get some feedback first. The two programs I'm looking at are ASX or
RWX. I should note that my frame rates are at a minimum right now with all the addons i currently have so performance is key here. Although i do plan
on adding another Geforce 8800 GTS video card and increasing my ram to 4 gig so feed back on quality would be nice as well. Let me know what you
hotshots are using.

I've got ASA fro FS9 and have been contemplating on spicing up FSX with the wx graphics by using ASA and FEX. Of course I'm in no hurry
to start sinking a bunch of $$ into FSX yet. In a few months I'm going to see about upgrading my system, too.

Well, I bit the bullet and registered FSUIPC 4 and purchased ASX and graphics today. I'll see how all of this works out on my system
before going any further with on wx addons.

Honestly, i've tried both, ASX is great but just doesn't come close to Real Environment Extreme, not sure about RWX, however i know that
you will be blown away by REX.

I have ASA. It's great. No screwy wind shifts, ever. Hurricane simulation, etc...

I had REX but half way through texture loading every time, my monitor would start flashing the display. Even the three finger salute screen
came up flashing. The only way to get it to stop was to reboot.

Got XGraphics with ASA - ASA creates XGraphics snapshots based on real weather data so any time I fly I get different looking environment to fly in...
At least, that's how it looks like... Don't have much experience though.

Wow, I bought Flight Environment X the other day and installed the high definition update for it. I am amazed at the details of clouds now.
Here are a couple of shots before I installed the high def clouds...still looks great anyway:

Go to Flight1.com and see all of the features ;) Too numerous to tell you here. Definitely get the high def. update. It's a huge file but worth
the download time.

I'm only using Active Sky X at the moment and will consider getting ASA later.

The second pic is of the Blue Angels#5 F18 :)

As indicated, the pics are the before installation of the SHD high def. update. In those pictures I just did the random theme. Since
installing the SHD update, I have randomized the themes to my liking. Have tried Blue Angels as well but they aren't as defined as some
of the others. Randomize the themes and try each one out. I've got some shots of the high def. ones that I will post later.

I have REX, I get the flashing screen thing during loading too, its kinda annoying but doesnt do anything worst than that, program works
fine, loading times are really long though, about 15 minutes... Its pretty amazing program, id recommend it.
