Hi there my friend,

I would like to ask you if i can get a copy of your fsearthtiles.ini and tilecodeingscript files. I was successfully working with fsearthiles until it
stopped on me and I never was able to get it going again. I admire your successful work on this project as it appears you have overcome
problems I and probably others have had. I am working on a New Zealand project and have permission to use some aerial imagery from
google (the imagery is actually owned by our councils. my email is kelvinnz@gmail.com. I would really appreciate your help.

I found a bug in v1.0 in the xyz type of service. Specifically the bug is apparent when the g***** service protocol version 41 uses z=18 for
the highest resolution and z=17 for the next-to-highest, whilst the URL sent from FSET is using z=1.

Example:
Use the execellent maptiler http://www.maptiler.org/google-maps-coordinates-tile-bounds-projection/ applet to confirm the xyz values of a
particular lat and long.

If you use this manual URL check
http://khm2.******.***/kh/v=41&x=71149&s=&y=37708&z=17&s=Galileo (You get a shopping mall)

But if you enter in Lat N 60,29',2" and Lon E 15,25',5" with a service section like this in the INI (hostname withheld like
everybody else
does):
[Service4]
ServiceCodeing = xyz
ServiceUrl = http://khm2.******.***/kh/v=41&%s&s=Galileo
and watch the URL as Service4 tries to fetch at resolution 1 it will actually use z=1 !
which looks like this:
http://khm2.******.***/kh/v=41&x=71149&s=&y=37708&z=1&s=Galileo (a picture of Northern Europe and Asia)

So to fix FSET support of the g***** service there needs to be a bug fixed, also notice the empty &s in the URL string. I do not have the
skills to fix this (I think, but I've downloaded the sources and will give it a go).

EDIT: OMG! I did it! Well actually the author of FSET had already done it in his code, it was there all the time and I just had to enable it
using TileCodeingScript.cs. I have never seen such an extensible, and easy to change, piece of software!! Kudos to the author of this
phenomenal program. I'll buy you a beer anytime. So, as I have now fixed GoogleMaps I am not going to waste it by attaching the correct
Service section in this thread, please PM me if you want/need GoogelMaps highres photoscenery in FSX.

Cheers

yes copy the autogen files from that specific scenery into the FSET scenery.
The autogenfiles are in the texture folder of a scenery and their file name are like this one:
011222311033122an.agn

if they used custom building textures you also have to copy the .bmp's from that folder and depending on the scenery maybe even
some .bgl files from the
scenery subfolder of the scenery

HB-100,

Thanks for your help.

It's a bit confusing which files to copy, The an.agn and .bmp files seem to provide the photo ground texture as well, as they make up the
bulk of the senery size on the disk. However, I have tried putting the FSET files the the senery folder of France VFR AlpesNord and
everything seems to work. Is this likely to cause any problems?

Also is there any way of changing the ratio of buildings to trees in the autogen?

Thanks.

I've found that if I limit the tile requests to 1 every 20 seconds (MaxDownloadSpeed =0.05) , g**gle never blocks me. I know it's a bit of a long
wait but the other tile services just don't have the same quality.

I am getting the correct URL generated by FSET.. however, I cannot get it to fetch the tile(s).
Entering the url in a browser - no problem, the tile shows up as it should.
The error displayed (it cycles through Engine 1, 2,3,4) at the bottom status line of FSET is:

Can not other-access Engine1 (2of2): = http://khm0.google.com/kh/v=41&&x=35385&y=49580&z=17&s=Galileo

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Jim

You could try resetting your router every 3-4 minutes.

The problem does not appear to be related to g** blocking.
FSET does not retrieve any tiles whatsoever. However, the url it generates is good because it works just fine when pasted into a browser.
When g** blocks, I know it has done so because I cannot get any tiles from a browser either at that point, and the router has to be reset to get
another ip.
Surely I am not the only one having this issue - I am not doing anything unique here...
Have tried it from a couple of different Operating systems and a couple of different machines. Same problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

sound to me like you have no direct access to the internet.
you should check in the browser option how that specific browser does the access. Does it use a gateway or proxy?
if so then of course you need to leed the traffic of FSET also over that.

edit to add: Oh and you have to use the www button at the buttom of FSET and let that browser window open for some specific services.

I have permission from the council BTW

Thanks a lot

Two things to check:

1) Is the file named: AreaKML.kml

2) Is AreaKML.kml either a single polygon or single path which outlines the area of interest? Multiple polygons or paths in the same file will not work.

If neither of those is the issue, then the only other thing I can think to do is to double check and make sure that the working folder listed in the
top line of the FSET window matches the folder where AreaKML.kml is placed.

Have you got it working yet?

Don't know the answer to that one. But you could try the TileProxy forum: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showforum=284 .

KML-File does not work
Author: googlehupf      2 Posts  Status: Young recruit Date    01-02-10 17:06

Hi,

I have the same problem as the user above: I made a AreaKML.kml with GE and placed it in the work folder of FSET (as well as in the root folder).

Both pressing the "K" button and dropping the file on the FSET.exe does not work. I always see the default image as map in FSET. My kml file is just a
rectangular polygon that I have drawn over an airport. Nothing else...

I also checked the ini file for correct paths, but everything seems to be ok...

Thanks for your help.

How to "cut out" the scenery
Author: googlehupf      2 Posts  Status: Young recruit Date    01-02-10 23:44

My scenery is only a rectangular texture in the middle of nowhere. I would like to cut it out along some fields, forrests etc, so it is smoother
integrated in the default scenery. How can this be done? Do I have to work on the pink mask bmp That is generated in the work folder? Which color do I
have to use to generate transparency?

Your polygon has to be labled Area. You have to pay attention that you only safe the tree/folder that contains that polygone.

And yes can create WaterMasks and smooth fading borders however you like them using polygons also. There is even an option in the ini file to have created a
smooth border automatical.

Please read the UserDocu.rtf that you will find in your FSEarthTiles folder.

Opening that file takes a time this is due the large file size. The .rtf file format isn't very size friendly and performance effective but can be read by every standard
Windows instalaltion useing WordPad. (enter WordPad)

With Vistas restrective settings you can run into problems pretending showing the graphics without enabeleing an option somewhere.

HB-100 and everyone else:

Please help me with this. I want to code fset to download images from the usgs (http://seamless.usgs.gov/). They have a wms server, and I
have read that some how you can get a kml file to download images (im not sure lol :-) ) The wms server link is this : http://ims.cr.usgs.gov/wmsconnector/com.esri.wms.Esrimap/USGS_EDC_Ortho_StateLocal?REQUEST=capabilities&SERVICE=WMS

How do I code this? I will offer anyone a small payment if you can get this to work. Again, it doesnt have to come from the wms server, but the
images have to come from USGS. Thanks!

This kicks the behind of default and GEX textures IMHO.
I couldn't possibly go back to those.
Great program.
Thanks for this 'little' gem...

Hi guys,

For Vienna airport I made season bitmaps.
FSET has made one large bgl file with all seasons in it.
In the work folder I have the bitmaps and the inf and txt files.

However the hardwinter bitmap had to be modified to make it more fit in the environment.
Beside that I want to use only the summer and hardwinter bitmaps in the bgl.

How can I make a new bgl file containing those 2 bitmaps ?

I've never bothered with multiple seasons but... are there sections in the INF file referring to the season BMPs? If so, make an alternate
copy of the INF with only the seasons you want included. And you might have to change the file count section of the INF as well. If I have
time this evening (and no one has provided a definitive answer first), I'll do a test capture and see if I can figure out the answer for you.

EDIT: Just checked. Open the AreaFSXMasksInfo INF file in NotePad. Change NumberOfSources = to the number of masks (seasons) you want to include. Delete the lines referring to masks you don't want. Save the file with a different name. Drop the new INF file onto the appropriate resampleFSXSP EXE. That should compile the new BGL with just the seasons you want to include.
