Guess it is time to stick back to FSX's so great looking standard dessert default ground textures.... at least at some regions...
I still wonder today how they ever passed that pice of rubbish as 'texture' not even to speak about a ground texture.
Should this mean that all my beginning "high-res"-terrain-FSX-g****e-projects are garbage now?
Is there no way to break this "random"-running from the service???

Probabily there is a way. With spending some time in analysing and with some effort ......
However it's not my business. I said I stop developeing FSET with v1.0 and I am serious about that.
I believe the specific service started doing modifications with the propose to get right of such uncontrolled and by them certainly not
wanted access like people with this prog and simular others did in the past.
Fighting modifications where at least I asume or guess they were made on purpose to exclude something they dont want is a critical
thing and should be considered better twice.
I am not sure what nature the modification is they did and how easy or not easy it would be to adapt to it..
But I am sure that I at least don't do anthing and simple accept as it is now. I enjoyed it as long as it lasted.
Maybe and that is stll my hope..somewhen one of this services or others offers us photo quality ground texture for download and use in
the FS to a fair and payable price....And maybe with even more...like autogen ..seasons night texture etc.. A lot thinkable..
Till then.. welcome back you painfull FSX dessert texture!
However there are also still other services then that one specific and so at some nice busy places its still possible to enjoy FS.

Hmmm....
Does anyone knows about other services (like www.idee.es for spain for example)???
Idee.es works fine up to 1m/pix
but g****e work up to 25cm/pix and more in some regions!

Any help for inserting it in fsearthtiles as a new service?

Hmmm, seems to be a flash-application.
But nice photos, up to 0,5m/pix I think.
I can't capture w.swf - or save the site on disk.

http://khm0.******.com/kh/v=36&hl=en&x=41859&s=&y=24718&z=16&s=Galileo
As posted above by HB-100, the version no. for Service 1 is indeed "36" but I guess something has changed in other parts of URL
string. Maybe I check in the wrong place but I used Fiddler which retrieves the above string from the server. It seems there is no more
option for "qrts" (ServiceCodeing) sort of thing which was replacing "%s" in the URL string for Service 1.
Anyone to comment?
Thanks,
Rustam

seem to work for inland bodies of water. I can create a mask and see that an apparently valid mask exists as a BMP file (pink for land, blue for water) but it seems not to be applied when I run the mask INI through the process. Any ideas? What am I missing?

Probabily there is no water in the default scenery wher you want the water.
The water Mask only makes the phototexture transparent at the specific parts. It does not create water.
This is a big disadventages of FSX to FS2004. In FS2004 you could generate water with the mask. In FSX you can not. You only have
reflection or transparence. Useing reflection, which you can generate also with FSEarthTiles if you like (FS Earth Masks config) often will
not give you a satisfying result because it brightens the color of the texture extremly up (so you need to change the colro in the
phototexture also) and you have a hard time to match it with the default water color when you want to aplay it for the sea.
Also no simple way but in this case still probabily the better is to use a programm called FSX KML to generate the missing water in the
default texture.
The FSX water vector thing is another bad done idea of the FSX developer team. They made it close to impossible to create normal
simple default FSX water.
Byway for inland lakes and rivers you can use CoastTwo and DeepWaterTwo that makes the texture half transparent only and gives a
different look than to the sea.

Author: rsoro01 6 Posts Status: Young recruit | Date 04-05-09 15:11 | The first thing I checked was if there was water at the location in the default textures. There is. I guess I'll continue to play around with it as
time allows and see if I can make it work.
Thanks.

thanks to the creator behind it!! Really appreciate the effort and the sharing....!!
Wish there was a possibility to exclude water when selecting areas in FSET.....
A have a nice tip for all FSET users who might be using Ultimate Terrain X products.
Amazingly, UTX has done such great job so everything in their landclass/road network etc. is by 95-100% aligned with real satellite data.
So, inactivate UTX from the setup tool , and on the FSX scenery library just add the UTX road network...Reload FSX...
Load your FSET produced scenery in the scenery librabry and rock the FSX road traffic to 100%.
What you will see if moving road traffic on your photoreal scenery!!!!! Absolute madness !!!! . I ve seen that enabling UTX lighting system
also puts in lighting in your photoreal scenery (traffic lights...road traffic lights mainly.......!!!)
Soon to upload pictures.........

them or look at them. Newscasts use Google Earth all the time. This program only offers you to access those images in a different way.
I'm sure a lawyer would argue it's illegal to remove the copyright notice. Big deal. No one is doing this for profit. It's only for personal use. No
one is claiming it as their own. We just want to fly with more realistic terrain.
As for the downloads...just think of the billions of requests Google must get every day. A few simmers are not going to bring their servers down.
That's more likely a problem between you and your ISP, not for a giant like Google.
Google creates a lot of traffic for other servers just by indexing them. They are accessing your data and everyone else's everyday. I've never
received a check from them for accessing and storing my copyrighted materials. Have you?

I am trying to make a bitmap from Schiphol.
With Google Earth I made a KML file and placed it as AreaKML.kml in the working folder.
When pressing K nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong here ?
Thanks,

Author: sci7ence 2 Posts Status: Young recruit | Date 07-30-09 23:07 | I found a bug in v1.0 in the xyz type of service. Specifically the bug is apparent when the g***** service protocol version 41 uses z=18 for
the highest resolution and z=17 for the next-to-highest, whilst the URL sent from FSET is using z=1.
Example:
Use the execellent maptiler http://www.maptiler.org/google-maps-coordinates-tile-bounds-projection/ applet to confirm the xyz values of a
particular lat and long.
If you use this manual URL check
http://khm2.******.***/kh/v=41&x=71149&s=&y=37708&z=17&s=Galileo (You get a shopping mall)
But if you enter in Lat N 60,29',2" and Lon E 15,25',5" with a service section like this in the INI (hostname withheld like everybody else
does):
[Service4]
ServiceCodeing = xyz
ServiceUrl = http://khm2.******.***/kh/v=41&%s&s=Galileo
and watch the URL as Service4 tries to fetch at resolution 1 it will actually use z=1 !
which looks like this:
http://khm2.******.***/kh/v=41&x=71149&s=&y=37708&z=1&s=Galileo (a picture of Northern Europe and Asia)
So to fix FSET support of the g***** service there needs to be a bug fixed, also notice the empty &s in the URL string. I do not have the
skills to fix this (I think, but I've downloaded the sources and will give it a go).
EDIT: OMG! I did it! Well actually the author of FSET had already done it in his code, it was there all the time and I just had to enable it using TileCodeingScript.cs. I have never seen such an extensible, and easy to change, piece of software!! Kudos to the author of this phenomenal program. I'll buy you a beer anytime. So, as I have now fixed GoogleMaps I am not going to waste it by attaching the correct Service section in this thread, please PM me if you want/need GoogelMaps highres photoscenery in FSX.
Cheers

Author: ecvatc 7 Posts Status: Young recruit | Date 08-03-09 20:45 | Hello!
I need some help. I have tried for about 2 days to program the service to terraserver, but have had no luck. I would very much appreciate if someone
who understands this would help me out. Here is what i did so far:
[Service1]
ServiceCodeing = xyz
ServiceUrl = http://terraserver-usa.com/tile.ashx?t=1&s=10&% #you need to replace the * with a service base url
ServerVariations = http://www.terraserver-usa.com/ #Server variations that all have to contain the same Tiles (old
versions v=24, v=20)
#Server variations that all have to contain the same Tiles
I read the read me like 1000 times and still dont understand it.
Terraservers website is www.terraserver-usa.com
Thank you so much for this great program!
