FSX Blurry Textures -- Help!
Author: VegasFlyBy      90 Posts  Status: Pilot    Date    06-21-12 00:00

Hey, everyone. I've been out of the FS world for a few years. I'm having a big problem with FSX and blurry textures. I remember having the same issue
with FS9 but you could modify the fs9.cfg to clear things up beautifully. I just cant seem to replicate those results at all with FSX. Honestly, the
blurry textures just takes me right out of the experience. I'm hoping someone can help me out here.

Is this just the way FSX is or is there hope? I've played endlessly with graphics settings and graphic card setting as well. I'm running Windows 7 64bit.

Here's a pic of the blurries I'm experiencing.

Bojote's tweak tool may help you clear things up a bit...especially if you've played around with the internal settings of FSX. Google Bojote's tweak
tool for FSX and see if the FSX world opens up for you.

Those are default textures. I'll look into that tweak tool and report back. If anyone else has any suggestions please keep them coming! :-) Thanks
for the help so far.

I finally got a chance to sit down and try Bojote's tweaks. I did see a very minor improvement in the textures but it's still pretty blurry. Is this just the way FSX is? I have a decent system and I'd even
be willing to invest a couple hundred on a new graphics card if that would help clear things up. Is there any particular card being recommended these days to use with FSX?

you can try upping the texture resolution. But it would help if we knew your System specs. on my old PC 9dual core CPU, 8800GPU and 2GB of
RAM) i kept the Texture resolution at 1M. on my new PC its set at 60CM.

What it means is 1 pixel in the Texture is about 1Meter in size. the lower the number, the greater the detail. Filtering and AA also play a roel. so does
the Terrain Mesh.

Also, can you tell me what your global texture resolution is set at?

Doing better now. I went out and replaced my two year old video card with an nVidea GE610 2 gig card and played with the setting more. It's getting
there. This is flying over Martha's Vineyard at 6500 feet.

for a flight at 6500 that looks correct.

Definitely ALOT better than the first pic. I was actually in Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket during the first part of May...C208 flying.
