The C208 Popcicle

Last week I had several days of "fun" wintery flying in the C208 in Wisconsin and the UP of Mi. before the weather cleared on Thursday. Well, here are
some of the pics I took from Sawyer, Mi. and enroute to Milwaukee, Wi. Ice attached to all unprotected areas of the airplane during 90% of the flight.
Too bad we didn't have one of the aircraft with the TKS system installed :( All pics were taken from my iPhone. I never take this type of flying
lightly. It's a reminder to everyone who flies for living or who is into leisure flying that Mother Nature is ALWAYS in charge. As a pilot, you ALWAYS
have to be on your "A" game each and every flight.

Getting ready to vamoose KSAW at Boreal Aviation:

Departing Runway 1, caught a glimpse of the Russian military aircraft still sitting on the ramp 1 year after it arrived. There's a story behind that :

Made the climbing left turn to the south and onward to Milwaukee:

See the white wall ahead? That means trouble:

Shortly after entering IMC, impact snow began collecting at 7,000 ft.:

At 9,000 ft. and picking up light to moderate rime ice:

Yep, not looking good:

Just inside of the outer marker for RWY 1L at MKE and still picking up light rime:

Was good to finally see the runway:

Airplane secured on the MKE ramp but ice still remains on the radome and prop cap:

Wicked cool pics, Joe! I'm glad the ice build-up didn't become a problem during landing.

So please tell us the story about the Russian aircraft! :)

It's a very short story: Russian crew lands the airplane in KSAW, Russian crew does their business (whatever that may have been), US authorities find
that the Russian crew did not have the appropriate documentation to be in the US...Russian crew gets detained indefinitely, aircraft remains on the
KSAW ramp collecting dust, err, snow
