| PMDG B737-800NG coming in too hot... |
Author: relichd 410 Posts Status: Confirmed Astronaut | Date 10-01-08 17:01 | Hello everybody,
A couple of weeks ago I bought the PMDG B737-800/900NG aircraft add-on. I think I managed to get into it well. The only thing that makes me mad,
though, is landing speeds.
I know what landing speeds there are as I can read them in FMC. But the trouble is the following:
If I make the flight without fs9 atc as a guide and leave it to the FMC (most of the part) I'm just fine with everything - including the descent. But
when I keep up with instruction from fs9 atc I am forced to use the speed brake very often. I'm instructed to start to descend a bit later after I
pass the calculated T/D so I thought it could be it. On the other hand the approach path is a bit longer than a direct path put into FMC before I get
the RWY in use information...
It never happened while flying another nice A318 aircraft from Wilco. I guess it's the difference in the overall weight of the aircrafts as I could
descend at 3000ft/min with A318 keeping desired speed but I can only descend 1500 - 2000ft/min with B737-800 to achieve the same so it seems I am not
able to descend to appropriate altitude before capturing RWY's localizer. In both cases I was flying at speeds calculated by FMC.
For now I'm setting lower speed before I start to descend and try to decreasing it to 240 once some 40nm from the airport... Am I doing something
wrong? Is there anybody else having solved this "problem"?
Thanks for any help!
David.

way to go; you're kinda stuck with reduced speeds, or speed braking later on if you follow the ATC.

You may want to try that if you dont want to go online.

But again, you always ignore ATC in some way (especially the heading part).
Anastasios.

with IVAO is that we are much more friendly against new people, and extra helpful towards young people. New pilots is important for IVAO to grow,
thatīs what weīre saying.

You just answered my question.... What's better - VATSIM or IVAO? Thx!
