Possibly would run FSX ok. I'm not a fan of Quad core for running flight sims, but that's my choice. I think Core 2 Duos do a much better
job....based on all I have read regarding Quad core vs. Core2D of course.

I would invest in a good sound card and disable the onboard sound. This will definitely improve performance.

You will likely get differeing opinions on this system or what others think would be a better system to operate FSX. In my opinion, you
should do much more research on the type of system that best suits your needs. As for me, I built a system specifically for flight simming:

Intel Core 2 Duo Wolfdale E8400, 3.0Ghz, OC'd 3.8Ghz
Corsair DDR3 1600Mhz RAM, 2G
ASUS Maximus Extreme mobo
Vigor Monsoon Lite CPU cooler
EVGA GF 8800GT 512MB vid card
XFi Xtreme Gamer sound card(onboard sound disabled)
Cooler Master Stacker 830 case w/ 7-120mm fans
WD 500G SATA II HD
WD 150G Raptor HD @ 10,000 RPM(used for storage and vid capture)

I get exceptional performance with FS9 on the SATAII hard drive...it's actually is performing better than the Raptor(when I had FS9 on the
Raptor that is). At any rate, that's my 2 cents worth:)

Im happy with my rig today... When i set the frame limiter in FS9.. I could get 60+ FPS.... :)

E8400 OC @ 3.6 GHz
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro HSF
Gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo..
2 x 1GB Team Xtreem Dark DDR2-800 RAMS
Leadtek 8800GT 512MB video card

For flight simulation use only. NOT FOR REAL WORLD NAVIGATION!
