Auto Throttle speed issue!
Author: smithy260194      2 Posts  Status: Young recruit Date    12-26-11 23:51

I set up a flight plan on FS Passengers then once I had taken off I did the usual process of selecting auto-throttle, speed hold, altitude
hold and then when I was given clearance by ATC to proceed on course I clicked GPS on the NAV/GPS switch and then clicked NAV hold.
The aircraft I was using was the standard Boeing 747 which comes with FSX.

Everything was running fine and I have previously flown successful flights using FS Passengers but suddenly I have encountered the
issue where even though my speed is set, auto throttle is on etc, the power of the engines just seems to increase quickly to full and the
aircraft eventually overstresses therefore failing the flight.

I have done exactly the same take off procedure without FS Passengers running and it worked fine (the engines did not power up and
overstress the aircraft). This issue happened with the standard 747 and 737 whilst FS Passengers was running.

The only way to stop it was to disengage auto throttle and speed hold which of course for a long haul flight will do me no good
whatsoever.

Has anybody else experienced this or can anybody help me please?

I love this add-on and do not want to stop using it :(

Thanks,

Matt.

Does it happen with all default planes or just the 747?

It has so far happened with the default 737 and 747. I don't fly any other aircraft using auto throttle etc so haven't tried them.

I did a quick flight from Leeds Bradford to Belfast earlier in the 737 without FS Passengers and the problem occured as I was descending to
the airport.

Suddenly my PFD reads a speed of 0, then the throttles move right the way forward and power the engines up. So eventually I overspeed,
therefore overstressing the aircraft.

I was on minimal difficulty earlier and the problem occured but after about 5 minutes returned back to normal. By this time it had already
thrown me off course and I was nowhere near the glide slope for rwy 22 at Belfast.

It seems it may not be an issue just in FS Passengers but it always happens at the same point in FS Passengers and at a different time
when not using it.

What weather settings do you use? I know it might seem random but have you got your anti-ice turned on?

if you are flying through icy conditions, ice can get stuck in the pitot-tubes. These things measure atmospheric conditions like altitude via air
pressure and also air speed, if they are blocked the auto pilot will effectively think the planes not moving and will thrust the engines to full power
to 'gain speed'

this is just an idea as I still dont know what weather conditions you had, but just try it out again with the pitot heat switch turned on.
