Dutch announcements - Anastasios - 30-10-2005

Hello everybody,

I made my own Dutch-English announcements for FSP.
I would like to upload them, the only problem is the size of the recordings!
I can't get it any smaller.

During the game there is no problem, I tried it several times, but it takes much longer to load an FSP flight.
It is not possible to upload them as the size of the complete file is 160 mb 8-)

Are there any advises about sizes of audio recordings????

Tasos

Re: Dutch announcements - DanSteph - 30-10-2005

wow....

woooooow

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooww

160 MB ? wow.... lol

a whole pack with a good quality can be made with less than 4mb Smile

You must convert each sound to 11025khz 8 bit mono....
try with one and send it to me... (keep the original somewhere)

Did you read the tutorial it explain that:
http://www.fspassengers.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9804

Read especially the text that speak about size, filter, quality , sample rate.
"3-filter the voice with a radio effect and convert them to proper format (good quality , low size)"

And congrat for your work Wink

Dan

yeah, those dutch, never come to the point. Every announcement takes hours..."Dear passengers, we all love you having on board! Before we can start
our party here, before we can pass the 'funny cigarettes', before we open our heineken, before we circle over the red light district, before we start
discussing useless things, can we please fasten those cute little seatbelts?". "If you don't agree, please start a discussion group, hold hands, go on
a strike, blame it on your childhood or the pilot's one". "When finally we all agree we're ready for take off, would you please be so kind to inform
the pilot of this decission?"

Hi Anastsios,

can you give an update on your work? I'm quite interested what you have come up with. The last messages has been at least a week, and
I'm really getting anxious about what you have produced Hot !

See ya,
Hans

Re: Dutch announcements - Anastasios - 13-11-2005

hi bloha,

you're dutch?

well, I have to do all the recordings over again, as I don't know how to change the size of the files.

Maybe it would be an idea for others to listen to the english part of my announcements, I think most of them are more realistic then the
standard announcement of FSP.

Some changes are:
-Fligth safety announcement is longer, complete demonstration, oxygen mask, life vest, etc.
-Before pushback you will here the command 'Cabin crew, doors on automatic and crosscheck please', followed by the purser's voice:
'Doors on automatic and crosscheck'. (Both my voice as I don't know anyone else to do the recordings, I just added a little effect to the
captain's voice so it sounds a bit different)
-After arrival at gate: 'Cabin crew, doors on manual', etc.
-When serving drinks: "...besides coffee and tea we will also be serving softdrinks, juices and several alcoholic drinks.." (I made the
announcement a little bit longer, also with the meal and snack service).
I LOVE the emergency announcement ghehe. A few weeks ago I saw a video of KLM. A reconstruction of an emergency landing. I used
some of this in the recordings for FSP.
When you declare an emergency, the cabin crew will start a quick demonstration, a few examples of what you will hear:
"...take off all sharp objects like watches and jewelry and put them in the seatpocket in front of you..."
"...take off scars and ties..."
"..look for the emergency exit nearest to you..."
"...open and fasten your seatbelts a few times..."
"...practice the brace position now..."
Before landing you will hear the command:"BRACE FOR IMPACT" and you will hear the cabin crew screaming:"PUT YOUR HEADS
DOWN, GET YOUR HEADS DOWN!!" (Real recordings of an exercise)
After landing you will also hear the evacuation, also real recordings. I really like this part, it almost feels like real lives depend on your
landing. The only thing is, when you have a small emergency, where no brace position is needed, this demonstration and everything will
still happen. Be aware of that ofcourse.

I used the announcements several times with flying, I noticed some minor errors. With volume as well the contents of the
announcements. I also need to change those errors.
Unfortunately I don't have much time to work on this, I will try to get this finished as quickly as possible.
If someone can offer me some help, I would appreciate it.

Re: Dutch announcements - olseric - 13-11-2005

Yes, but if you're copying KLM, you need to say them in Dutch then immediately repeat everything in English. Wink

Re: Dutch announcements - Anastasios - 13-11-2005

well,

emergency announcements are just in English.
At least, on the video they were only English and I also did them only in English.

When there is an emergency, often there is not much time to prepare the cabin.
There will be two demonstrations.
In the first part (crew_0failproblem) you will hear the most important things to do to prepare for the emergency landing, take off sharp
objects, study safety card, follow cabin crew instructions, brace position etc) You will also hear the command from the purser to the cabin
crew: "Cabin crew, check cabins, flashlights on, cabin lights off and silent checklist please).

In the second part (crew_1faildescent) you will hear extra things you can do to prepare for an emergency landing. Stow away luggage,
practice fasten and unfasten seatbelt, etc).

If you have an emergency just before landing of just after take-off or if there is not much time between the emergency and the
landing/impact, you will only hear the first one (the most important one) and ofcourse (crew_2failbeforeland).

When everything is finished I will let you know and upload it to FSP.

Hi Anastasios,

I'm a little slow on the reply, but yes I'm Dutch. Like I said, I'm looking forward to what you've made! It looks like you've got quite a list in
your addon.

Good luck! Beer
