[did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - DanSteph - 04-05-2005

In FsP you can switch the seat belt sign wich is essential for your passengers with two way:

1-Keyboard key (that you can redefine)
2-FsPassengers Menu

Of course clicking on menu isn't appealing while the sim pause during this process.
Pressing a keyboard key is nice and will please most of you.

But for you panel button lover, FsP will include somes gauges that you will be able
to place on your panel that can intteract with FsP...

For example the seat belt button:

This button can give order to FsP as well as receiving it, so if your press keyboard
key or toggle the seat belt in the menu this button will light or not, but if you press
on it it will change the seat belt state into FsP as well, so you will hear a "ding"
and the hostess will announce also the seat belt change to the passengers.

The gauge will be installed with the FsP install and can be installed like that
on the panel of your preffered aircraft (example):

gauge41=FsPassengers2004!CabinSign, 275, 282

(for those that don't know this is done in the panel.cfg, it's a common Fs gauge placement)

It can even be placed on virtual cockpit but this depend of the VC design (you have to find a place
on it, sometime it's not possible due to the design of the VC)

I post this now because I just reworked the gauge and now it work flawlessly
(previously it was a complicated system that didn't worked so well)

I'll be able to do more button design and more button in this gauge like GPWS hinibit or such
that will be able to intteract with FsP...

Thanks for your attention Wink

Dan
"happy to have cleared the gauge of all the complicated code and to have now a 100% working stuff"

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - fruitfly - 04-05-2005

Hi!
What if the plane already has the 'fasten the seatbelts' switch' , like it's the case with F1 ATR 72-500 and PMDG b737?
Will it be possible to link that already existing switch with FSP?

Many thanks!

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - DanSteph - 04-05-2005

Of course not because 100% time they are only "fake" button that just play a ding
that don't set any value in Fs2004. (the seat belt value doesn't exist in Fs2004)

In this cas one might replace them on the panel by a working FSP button, I'll take care
to do 3-4 different shape so you can choose beetween them the best...

I take a fake example:

you fly with the stunning YD11, he have a seat belt button that you want that work with FsP
on the panel.cfg it look like this:
gauge00=YS11_Gauges!WM_Switch1, 8,65,27,40

juste replace this line with:

gauge00=FsPassengers2004!CabinSign, 8,65

And you have now a working button with FsP instead of a fake one...
notice if you don't fly a FsP flight the button will still be here, light and move.

Of course this is a litle job for you, but even if FsP goes far beyond what Fs
allow usually I cannot do miracle.

Else if you don't want to replace or place a FsP button you will be tied to
keyboard or menu wich isn't that bad anyways...

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - DanSteph - 04-05-2005

In the PMDG VC overhead panel for example you can have the FsP button as follow:

replace:

gauge08=PMDG_737NG_OHD_PAX_SIGNS!PMDG_737NG_OHD_PAX_SIGNS, 586,437,128,443

by

gauge08=FsPassengers2004!CabinSign, 586,437

A bit tuning in position may be done to place it well, but it's not a big job.

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - colincm - 05-05-2005

What about addon panel? or does the button only appear in default?

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - DanSteph - 05-05-2005

The button don't appear automatically on panel, it's a "plus" of FsP..

So you have to include them if you want them in every panel, in this way
it's not different at all than any other gauge to place on panel,
open the panel.cfg of aircraft and edit or add a line to put the FsP gauge.

A help text will be available to help you do this without headeach....

And about FsP not placing automatically button on panel: FsP can open the
CFG and place the button of course but how would FsP know the correct
place you want it ?

Notice somes utility are available around here to add a gauge without headeach on a panel.

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - fruitfly - 05-05-2005

Yes, that won't be a problem to place the gauge ourselves.
But maybe we'll need a bit of your help when it comes to identyfing the name of the gauge. Of course, it'll be impossible for you to do that for
all airplanes, but maybe for several of the most complex ones?
I've tryed to locate the gauge in F1 ATR, but the abbreviations are not as reckognizable as in the PMDG example above.
But don't worry; there's always a possibility to get assistance from the developer. (at least F1 team is very helpful!)

PS
I've lost all interest in flying without FsP.
Untill you publish it, I'll be having fun with SilentHunter3 - after all it's also a simulation. With navigational problems. And dynamics of fluids
are included.
That'l have to do for the time being! Wink

When FsP will be released I'll open more forum and also somes upload/download section there will be for example
a forum dedicated to FsP tuning or add-ons so I hope help will be available here by users, I expect also
that people that will do new scenario or payload model or different sound pack or whatewer is tunable in FsP
(there is a lot that you can modify) will upload their creation for the benefit of all, of course this may include
panel.cfg of most common aircraft...

You may give a try to somes freeware around here that make changing gauge on panel a piece of cake
In just searched on my hd but there is a long time since I worked on panel I can't recal its name , it was a wysiwyg
application.... using it placing a FSP gauge and removing one would be easy...

gaugedit ? paneledit ? can't recall... Wonder

FS PanelStudio?
But anyway... as you've said - that'll be a piece of cake!

It seems great minds are thinking alike! I also bought Silent Hunter 3 and it is reminiscent of the classic 1990's combat flight sims in
many respects, with the non scripted campaign. I suspect SH3 and MSFS with FsP (and Airliner Pilot) will be dominating my gaming for
the next few months if not couple of years.

At the moment I' m still flying for a VA, though no longer the one I used to fly for, but once this comes out if the problems at my old VA are
not sorted then I'll go back using this to flying Landmark Airlines. And either way, I still can't wait, though I know I have to. Smile

Hey, jboweruk! Now I remember!!!!
It's you I owe the tip about FsP:

Re: [did you know ?] FsP and gauges on Panel - Andy05 - 26-09-2005

Some question to this, is it inpossible to take the original Gauge texture for the FsP Seatbelt Gauge?? I mean then we could replace the
Original Gauge with a gauge looks like the original for FsP?? Why must it be the Button with the green types???

You can have a red type Smile
example: gauge41=FsPassengers2004!CabinSignRed, 272, 282

I always wanted to add more button style to match almost every style
but didn't had time until now.

Anyway it's just a matter of adding more images and compiling again the gauge
in fact the more difficult is to find or make the image...

if you can provide about 31pixel width height image for on/off I can add them...
