[Solved]Unable to install FSPassengers - M@ttyB1971 - 18-05-2015
After having to do a complete system factory reset due to an unrelated issue I have found I can no longer install my
favourite add on.
I confess I am a novice with computers but my pc was a clean reboot and fsx-se was the first thing I loaded. I can download
FSPassengers from this
site but can neither install it or the 3 simconnect files. This is what my installation log reads.....................

Look like FsPX installed but there seems to be registry issue with FSX according to the log. Dan will have to ask more prudent questions here because
I know zilch about the way -SE installs.

That's the part I'm more concerned with. Also, did you install the latest version of -SE???

Hi Joeflyer, thanks for the response, as I said in my post I am a complete novice as far as computing goes. As far as having the latest version of SE
how does one go about getting the latest version as I have the game in options on "keep up tpo date" or am I missing something.

Hey Matt, I am referring to FSX-SE. I assume you find the latest SE update in Steam. Does it automatically update or do you have to manually do it
yourself? I'm not for certain, as I do not have -SE. Again, the error in the registry message I saw in your post is a big concern. If you can't seem
to find any work around with the registry problem, send Dan an email by pressing the "Contact" tab at the bottom of this page.

I did all of those. Still nothing. Steam does it automatically (just to let you know for future refrences)

Hi all,
after pulling my hair out (what is left of it) as far as being unable to install fsp I decided to upgrade to windows 8.1............I can hear the gasps
now. Suffice to say after a clean load upgrade and download of fsx-se (latest version because it is automatically upated) I still have the same inability
to install it.
Soooooooooooo...........we begin the lengthy process of reverting back to my original windows 8 ( what the computer came with).
A clean load up of steam and fsx-se was done. I even clicked on local files and verify integrity of the game.ALL ok.
HOWEVER, when I downloaded fsp and tried to reinstall this add on this is the message I get below :-

I have looked at the other post but nothing seems close to the niggling annoying issue I seem to be having.
I truly am getting to the point of scrapping fsx-se and going to prepar3d as I cant seem to find any solution.

Just a thought, do you have any other applications like FSUIPC installed?
If not then a dll.xml file may not have been created in FSX or FSX SE in app.data/ Microsoft, and if the Fspassengers installer can't find the Dll.xml file it may not be able to complete the installation.
I am not sure if a dummy Dll.xml file is in place when FSX SE is installed or whether an application like FSUIPC has to be installed to cause the creation of the file, but Fspassengers certainly seems
to look for it during the installation.
As I say just a thought but may be wide of the mark!

Further to my last post I have done it.
Maybe it is because I am tired who knows but I finally got my head around it after reading other posts but never finding the best solution.
THIS WORKED FOR ME, no promises it will work for you but it may.
I ALWAYS left clicked these.........
Go into Computer C: It is my main drive but may differ for you.
Then into Steam
Then steamapps
Then common
Then FSX
Then ConfigData
Then AppData
Then RIGHT click on the file marked dll.mxl
Simply copy that file and paste it again in the same folder of AppData so your folder will look like this
dll-Copy.xml
dll.xml
exe.xml
I did that and dang me if after downloading the 3 simconnect files Dan has available on here, IT WORKED.
I am guessing that the previous version of FSX-SE was perfectly compatible but the update has thrown this anomaly at us.
Like I said it worked for me and if your install log looked like mine if you see my previous posts then try it .....I hope it resolves the same issue.
Finally I can get back to flying FSX as it was mean't to be done........with FSPassengers

Sorry I forgot to add to click on Programmefiles(x86) after clicking your C: or main drive
and before you click Steam but I guess you guys would realise that error.
Ha ha I blame it on me being tired. Anyway I hope this solution for me helps someone else in the same predicament.

A BIG thank you to Johnan who directed me to the right path to take.
Even though there is already a dll.xml file in there it seems fspassengers cannot read it. Merely copying the file and repasting it IN THE SAME
FOLDER allows passengers to be installed.................very odd but at least there is a way around it.
Like I said in my previous post I put this down to the FSX-SE update being iffy for fspassengers and not the problem lying with fspassengers. Hope
my posts and other peeps has helped folks having this issue.

Yes, Johan needs a big check from Dan for catching this little jewel of a fix
I hope Dan takes a look at it soon. I did send him a message about it.
