[Solved]Screen glitch when cabin announcements - mugan78 - 15-03-2014 Hello, i never had this problem until i installed fspx. While in flight or on the ground with fspx started i get sudden fps increases which cause stutters. This only occurs during cabin crew announcements. It happens with any add with fps raising from about steady 30 up to 50-60fps, the worst part is that during this occurrence when ever you pan the view around its 10 times worse also when changing view as in going from cockpit to external but when the announcements stop its fine. Any ideas? i am getting very frustrated here...thank you (similar post to someone else). I really want to buy this product but if I can't get this sorted I'm not going to waste £30 on something that doesn't work properly Post Edited ( 03-15-14 14:26 ) Re: Screen glitch when cabin announcements - Jason - 15-03-2014 What is your "Target Framerate" slider set to in display settings? Re: Screen glitch when cabin announcements - mugan78 - 16-03-2014 I've tried it both with slider set to 30fps and unlimited both with same effects. It happens with all types of jet aircraft using stock or add ons. I've not tried it with GA aircraft just purely cos they generally don't have cabin crew but I may try to tick the box that says all aircraft have cabin crew and try that see what the results are I just wish I could get to the bottom of it so that I can use it properly, if you know what I mean. Re: Screen glitch when cabin announcements - Jason - 16-03-2014 There's not much at play here, you should be able to diagnose this. Next still is to change the setting called "informational text" from continuous to single line. It's under display settings on the graphics tab, bottom right corner. Also, you can try to see if it does this during an external view. I don't know your computer configuration yet, but I had an issue with this using Vista's Aero, go into your windows display settings and disable Aero. Also try the game in windowed mode if you are full screen, or full screen if you are in windowed mode. And a couple other things that "shouldn't" affect this but might, try to disable or enable (opposite of current config) the Direct X 10 preview mode. And disable lens flare and light bloom, If I remember correctly, light bloom also wreaks havoc on default taxi lines. And you can do a google search for "FSX config tweak" and there is a guy out there that made a site you can upload your FSX.config to (from your C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\ folder and it will modify the FSX config to increase stability and performance. Then just download the modified one and paste into the folder. Don't forget to back up your existing config file first in case you need to revert. I have used that site personally to fix a hanging problem I had and it worked like a champ. Re: Screen glitch when cabin announcements - Recon - 16-03-2014 Welcome mugan78, Can you give us your system specs and OS. Your settings in FSX for example would be nice also. Other thing,...you wrote your FPS goes up instead of down??? Quote: fps raising from about steady 30 up to 50-60fps, Re: Screen glitch when cabin announcements - mugan78 - 25-03-2014 Hi thanks for all your feedback I have narrowed it down to the text across the screen when the cabin crew make their announcements. If in the settings I disable display crew text in v/c (something like that) then I don't get the stuttering/flashing. I would give you my specs if you want but I think that my graphics card is a little under powered too. It's only got 256mb. But anyway I seems to have solved it by switching off that option. Hopefully it won't happen anymore. Many thanks again guys for all your help. I will try your suggestion about changing settings from continuous text to single line text see if that helps I run FSX on my MacBook Pro through bootcamp running windows 7 Windows 7 Intel core i5 8gb ram Nvidia gforce gt 256mb dedicated graphics card 256gb ssd As I said I know that this set up is not ideal because it's a laptop but I will be getting a desktop pc in the near future and then I will be rocking and rolling ![]() Re: Screen glitch when cabin announcements - Recon - 25-03-2014 Good to see that it is sort of solved. Thnx for sharing your findings and solution. Happy flying. |
