A New Crash... - Elude3113 - 03-03-2011

Ive checked the FAQ, searched the old threads, gone through pages and pages... not finding anything here.

Problem: when running FSX acceleration standalone system is fine, once FS Passengers X is installed everytime I load the standard FSX
kneeboard (Shift+F10) FSX crashes and cites msvcr80.dll as the culprit.

My System: 4.0 i7, EVGA X58 MB, 6GB RAM, GTX470, 300GB Raptor, Onboard HD audio+Creative SB Titanium, liquid cooled
CPU+Graphix.
Drivers: All updated, checked double checked. Reinstalled Many.
OPSYS: Win7x64 Fully updated.
Addons:FSUIPC 4.whatever, ActiveSkyEvolution.
FS Passengers X; brand new, most recent version

I know the msvcr80.dll is used for displaying the kneeboard and instruction from the C++ Vis library DLL's, but from extensive testing this
is what I have found. I uninstalled all addons and attempted FSX, opened kneeboard, CTD. Reinstalled microsofts hotfix for compatibility
for C++ and retried, NC(no change). removed all addons, removed FSX, removed videos drivers. Installed graphix, then fsx. several tests
conducted, stock kneeboard works everytime.

Installed FS Passengers X, then without choosing any options, did not start a flight, did not choose anything, checked for updates then
after verifying none, opened kneeboard, instant crash. I suspected other addons and have been testing for two days now.

This doesnt happen everytime, but most of the time and always the same dll. always shift+f10 and only shift+10. It seems the installation
of FSPX corrupts my C++ Vis dll and it is impossible to fix it. Reinstalling the backward compatible hotfix does nothing. doing a clean
install of the hotfix also results with NC.

If you guys need logs or anything tell me where to find them and what you need. I love this addon when it works, so this needs to be fixed
so I can enjoy this thing.

And a word for any system/hardware questions you might have, I have run ARMA2, FSX, and any other game I have with max settings with
zero problems. Most simple software/hardware bugs I can figure, and my machine is a tank, OC'ed cpu and graphix. Never BSODs. Never
hangs.

Thanks for any time you guys are willing to invest in this one..

Elude...seems like you covered all of the bases here, and you are apparently quite technologically savvy. Since the issues you experienced aren't the
"wrong authorization" kind, I will alert Dan to this thread and see if he can possibly provide you with some guidance.

Edit: Message has been sent to Dan. I cannot guarantee when he may respond, however.

you.

This will sound snotty but it isn't meant to be. Since you can't call up your kneeboard why not just print off the pages you may need for your
plane?

Re: A New Crash... - Elude3113 - 04-03-2011

touche. I like where your head is at... the only problem is now that fspassengers is installed I would need to uninstall passengers, uninstall
fsx, uninstall C++ then reinstall C++, reinstall fsx, bring up the kneeboard, and print each reference page for each plane so I would have it
when I need it then reinstall passengers and never use the kneeboard again.

I do print flightplans from the menu but as far as I know I cant print seperate screens on the kneeboard. I dont even know how to do that. Im
sure it can be done somehow but im not about to go all stephen hawking on that tangent.

Unless there is somewhere where all that information is kept somewhere in the game dll's that I can call it up and print it from there. Bottom
line is once passengers is installed im snafu.

I found it odd that im the only one with this problem. I dont know if thats ever happened before. Usually somebody has an answer, so im
really at a loss here. The first time I wiped win7 and performed a clean install I didnt know that you cannot have any other drives plugged in or
the system writes the necessary boot files to the wrong drive. Took me about 14 hours to figure that one out. Felt pretty dumb after that.

It didnt sound snotty, I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Re: A New Crash... - gbapache - 04-03-2011

The aircraft ref. info that you see on the kneeboard is an htm file living in each aircraft file. Just open up your plane and there it sits, mine
all show up as word files so I would just print it off from there.

Re: A New Crash... - Elude3113 - 04-03-2011

Eureka!. Dont even have to print in that case, only run fsx in windows mode and flip back. Or buy that coveted second monitor I keep
procrastinating about...

I really want to know why my C++ isnt working, its a pretty universal tool/plugin for a lot of programs I just cannot understand what is different
about this and why passengers is affecting it. I will not consider this solved, as I love my kneeboard, I want it desperately back, but as a
workaround this will have to work.

Thanks apache.

Man I thought I had a good install last night but after an hour or so it crashed when I tried to
open it. Im debating trying to figure out if it has something to do with xml..
