manual database editing possible? - Swoop - 07-10-2010

I did something stupid. Well sort of stupid.

Due to installing some god awful AI traffic addon that gave me an FPS of 3 I needed to reinstall FSX. First I moved my FSPassengers
folder to C:\Temp to ensure I could just reinstall FSX, then FSPassengers and then copy the old folder over the new install and not lose
any data.

However.....when I uninstalled FSPassengers it apparently deleted the fspassengers folder in c:\temp cos it's gone.

:-(

almost 400 flight hours and a C10 rating. :-(

I started the company from a very hard start in career mode with a 20% failure rating and it's all gone.

If it's not possible to recover my data (which I dont think it is), is it possible for me to start a new company and edit the pilot data so I'm
more or less in the same position?

ie, create a company (not on hard start this time) and a pilot with a c10 rating in career mode?

If this was possible then guys would start a company as C22 with 276,493,917.6 hoursof night weather time and a fleet of 48 A380's.

I used to have a Commander that in crummy situations would ask us if we wanted bread with that s**t sandwich. I think that applies here.

you can acces the database with microsoft access and a password tool. (I also tried to fix a detail once, but didn't go so well Smile )

so .. it is at your own risk.

Ya know.....actually, having to start again from scratch has introduced a whole new level of interest again.

Anyone who's never tried a really hard start on career mode with instant flight recording just doesnt know what they're missing.

Do you mean like hours of crying after an AI plane plows right through your plane on short final after 6 hrs?

DATA

If you have system restore running you might try going back to a time before you removed the file, then copy or back it up if it reappears,
preferably to a cd or dvd. Run restore again to undo the past and put your machine back to the present so you don't have to get rid of the
bad ai again. Next copy your restored file of fs pax with all your hard earned data by over writing the new fs passenger file.

There are programs available online for recovering lost files if the above info does not work.
