Alleged Overspeed - IanHarr - 07-07-2010 I just flew a B737-800 for a 3 hour flight. I deliberately set the speed at mach 0.76 when cruising was reached (FL340) to be safe. The cruising is supposed to max at 0.82. I was "in the cockpit" during climb and descent and no overspeed but to my horror on exiting to the report, I was penalised for exceeding the maximum speed. Is there any way I can check where this is supposed to have happened? To my mind, it is impossible that I exceeded the limit. Re: Alleged Overspeed - whiskey-zulu - 07-07-2010 Can you post your fligth report here so we can better diagnose? Re: Alleged Overspeed - Joeflyer - 07-07-2010 This could have occured during cruise flight...drastic wind changes that are common for those who don't have FSUIPC. Those wind changes can overspeed your aircraft when you least expect it. Re: Alleged Overspeed - IanHarr - 07-07-2010 I have the report, how do I post it? Re: Alleged Overspeed - iflyfsx - 07-07-2010 You'll have to master the art of copying and pasting, but it was most likely the weather bug that causes insane wind changes, and the flight report won't show this. You can only see it if you are paying attention the entire flight. Re: Alleged Overspeed - IanHarr - 08-07-2010 Thanks. I know how to do that! I thought perhaps there was a way to upload a file, as in some other programs. As you say, it doesn't show anything that helps. I suppose I will just have to pay my virtual co-pilot more to watch out for this happening. Seriously, though, thanks for the input. I will play with FSUIPC and see what that it can do to help. Re: Alleged Overspeed - Joeflyer - 08-07-2010 A registered version of FSUIPC will give you the wind smoothing options. Works like a charm! |
