FSX chrash after some time - 1993matias - 24-04-2010

Hello! I've downloaded the demo FSP for FSX, and i like it very much. But one of the down-sides is that it keeps chrashing before I can end my
flight:
I load an airplane, flightplan and passengers. Then I taxi and take off, let's say SFO-HNL in the FSX 737-800.
During the descent I want to stop the time speed; then I do something (I can't remember what) in the FSP menu, and FSX freezes. I can't do
anything, and I have to restart FSX and FSP. It could also happen when changing the speed of the time.
Again, but now with the FSX 747-400. And it freezes again.
Another flight, I just end the FSP flight and it freezes. I think it was with the FSX Beech King Air.
Next flight, a Tupolev 144. About halfway I want to change the time speed, and it freezes.

I have Windows 7 and FSX SP2. I don't have any addons, only a lot of a/c. I've never had any of these problems before I downloaded FSP, so
I'm sure it is FSP's fault...

I hope you'll help me :D

Using time accelaration can cause the sim to crash, especially when you are slowing down to normal time as there is alot of information that needs to
be reloaded. Also, opening FSP windows in full screen mode can cause crashes. Two simple solutions: 1) don't use time accelaration, it's only 4.5 - 5
hours KSFO to PHNL so there's time for you to do other stuff while the a/c is in the air, 2) use windowed mode when accessing FSP windows.

Not sure about that advise, after the CTD do you get an error message? Ususlly it is due to an OOM problem as the RAM is trying to figure
out where you are and load all the previous and current scenery (big task).

2 options fly without acceleration or get more RAM.

I already use windowed mode, but as I remember, I didn't use time acceleration on the Beech King Air-tour. Still, I'll try to follow your advice;
thanks.

Re: FSX chrash after some time - Recon - 24-04-2010

I do have to go more with airmiles here.
You write you have Win7.....but which version 32-bit or the 64-bit?

Re: FSX chrash after some time - whiskey-zulu - 24-04-2010

Wonder What airmiles said is basically what I said, but made it more for the techies with RAM and OOM.

32 bit. But isn't it a bit weird that it begins crashing after I installed FSP?

Did you look through the CTD sticky in this forum?

I remember i'd had the same problem when installed Win7.
At first I had a 32-bit, changed it to 64-bit and the problem was solved.
It has to do with the amount of ram your OS handles.
It is a little technical talk in which for example Whiskey can explain you more about it Smile

@whiskey: Yes I know but we are not all that technical Smile

O/t Oh so many innuendos can be made about how much RAM your system can take *finds a paper bag and breaths into it*

Back on topic: whoever said I was technical :P
